The special event will take place at Apple’s campus in Cupertino, California.

8 minutes in and I’m already bored.
Easily bored?
I’m generally pro-Apple, but it was a boring event. They spent time on Japan and showing a camera feature found on one model of iPhone. The only interesting thing was the Touchbar. They spent time demonstrating it with a DJ making EDM, the world’s most boring music that even a toddler with an iPad can make. Their Jonny Ive is constipated video was dull. It was a boring event with one interesting feature.
This was really just a 1-hour event. They shoehorned in a half hour of iOS news (we didn’t get Mac news for the iPhone 7 event in September, so why the iOS updates now?), and talked about a new TV app that not only wouldn’t be available for a couple months, but *also* isn’t available on the Mac… which “is so incredibly important to [Apple]” that they only bothered to update a single line in the family.
Granted it’s the 25th anniversary of the first modern laptop form factor, but the lack of news on the Mac Pro is alarming in the extreme.
Broke pre-teen males are going to love Minecraft on Apple TV. That is such an under valued market.

TV production has been in a golden age the last few years. Never before have we had such quality programming. Shows like Spartacus, GoT, Ash vs. Evil Dead, all Netflix Marvel series so far. All fantastic IMO. And hopefully a killer new Star Trek coming next year !
I haven’t seen Sons of Anarchy, Sherlock, West World, Walking Dead, Breaking Bad and many other shows I hear are amazing .
But for stuff I watch I download them and watch at my convenience, even though they are available on my cable and I could PVR them.
I keep cable so i can watch NHL game since some get blacked-out on NHL / Rogers gamecenter.
My wife watches CNN from time to time.
My son watches lots of Treehouse kids network lots.

Cut the cord and subscribed to Sling TV. I do not watch that much and it is still a bundle, but when my Comcast bill hit $200 a month with no change in service that was it.
The Golden Age stuff is a bunch of hype. Other than a few standouts like Mad Men, most has been retreads and bullshit. House of Cards is an America retread of a British TV show aired on PBS years ago- and I mean years. Most of the better stuff is on HBO and Showtime- the commercial infested channels suck like a Dyson.
Maybe the Millennials like cartoon & comic book crap done live action, but I’ll pass. Same for non-reality “reality” shows that were birthed out of the anus of MTV back in the day.
I agree with you DavGreg. I don’t have a TV, but I still watch “television programs.” I prefer to let the seasons end and binge what is interesting, but as far as watching TV all year long? Forget it.
Once that thing is gone from your life, the amount of time you free up will astonish you. I just don’t think the current model of TV can last. Young people are growing up without it. I suppose there are still some families who meet in the living room and watch TV together, but most I see now, everyone has their own thing.
I used to laugh at Youtube, but I watch more Youtube now than anything. I love the way Netflix works, they just dump the entire show online when they are ready instead of dishing it out 1 episode at a time.

I work a FT weekend shift which has long ago weaned me from the Sportsgasm many Americans have every weekend. During the week there are too many better things to do, too many places to go and people to meet.
With Cable I mostly used my DVR to watch the few things worth watching and watched whenever I get like catching up. The Infotainment that passes for news freed me from watching the bought and paid for MSM and when real news breaks you can watch it live online- many times with better coverage from Periscope on Twitter and such.
Years ago Bruce Springsteen wrote a song called 57 channels and nothing on. Today the only difference is that there are hundreds of channels owned by 4 or 5 companies and there is still nothing on.
All of Apple TV’s live TV features are worthless to me. I’m in a Time Warner Cable / Spectrum service area. They don’t do content deals that allow third party apps to function.
Pleeze – tell me this isn’t real.
The most valuable company in the world holds a release event and we get some half baked app that does practically nothing.

Oh my now Mac has come around to installing a permanent “Ribbon” just like MS Word 2006! Progress!

Craig just didn’t impress me. Apparently Apple spent 4 years to move the toolbar from the screen where we look down to the keyboard. And like a goddamned Microsoft ribbon, it’s always changing. How does this increase productivity????

I’d say that is a big Fuck You to Desktop users.
They were out there pimping an i7 MacBook Pro as an editing station.
Still think they should spin off the Mac operations as the Steve Jobs Truck Company and leave the rest to the Rappers and Facebook crowd.
No Tower or Pro desktop Macs. It’s getting difficult to explain this to clients.
The explanation is that Apple gives not a shit about you. The picture of the Mac family had no Mac mini and no Mac Pro of any kind- only laptops and the iMac.
They already dropped the server HW and turned the Server SW into a toy. They FUBARed or abandoned the Pro apps and dubbed down the iWork apps so they would align with iOS versions. They have $3 Billion to buy out a me too music rental scheme and crappy headphone outfit but no money to give us a decent Pro Desktop.
At a supposedly Mac centric event the first half hour was spent on the Apple TV and iOS- not the Mac. Tim wants you to buy a watch, rent your music and your iPhone, subscribe to iCloud and go be a DJ or something.The attitude projected is “if you want a Desktop you must not be one of the cool kids”.
This was worse than my worst expectations! Not even a mention of iMac much less Mac Pro and mini!
AND – if you ever read any of the Mac boards would you ever start off talking about thiness and showing off emojis??
