Apple delays AirPod rollout

“If you’ve been waiting for Apple’s AirPod wireless headphones to go on sale, you’re going to have to wait a little longer,” Matthew Panzarino reports for TechCrunch.

“‘The early response to AirPods has been incredible. We don’t believe in shipping a product before it’s ready, and we need a little more time before AirPods are ready for our customers,’ an Apple spokesperson told TechCrunch,” Panzarino reports. “Apple did not say whether hardware or software updates are what is at the heart of the delay.”

Panzarino reports, “My experiences with the AirPods have been very positive this far but the pre-production units that were given out to press are not without their foibles and bugs.”

  1. Evidently Forstall hasn’t got his fingers in this pie… Defo wouldn’t want AirPods*Beta* being received with the same welcome as AppleMaps did. Especially when Apple is trying to transform the landscape, i.e. drop the antiquated 3.5mm jack. Better wait and do it right. People who truely want quality products, will appreciate the production delay if it avoids many all the first-gen headaches we have come to know in the past few years.

      1. I’m not going to be jogging with them or even taking them outside. If someone is doing strenuous activities maybe they should go another route. I’d bet that if these things were being made by Google the potential for losing them would be glossed over by the Android lovers.

    1. Yes, because everybody should only make the products YOU want and stuff the rest of us. If you want a strap, buy the Beats, or any of a dozen other choices, these are not for you.

If, like me, you want to be able to just put in one earpiece for calls, Siri etc without a dangling cord weighing in your ear, then enjoy these.

  2. What? Yet another botched product launch? Color me surprised.

Tim Cook couldnt lauch a product if his life depended on it.

He announced this product just last month!

If a product is less than 3 months away from launch, that means it MUST be finished with design, in manufacturing, and preparing to enter distribution. All those post design activities take time.

So when you make an announcement like this, you BETTER HAVE YOUR ACT IN ORDER.

Of course, Tim Cook is a complete dunce, and an incompetent CEO, so he made the product announcement BEFORE THE PRODUCT was clear and ready to go.

Every day Tim Cook proves how utterly incapable he is to lead a company like Apple.

Tim Cook is Apple’s Steve Ballmer.

  3. With this much money and expertise at your disposal, these kinds of bait and switches are unacceptable. If you knew the product wouldn’t be ready then say so, don’t squeeze in the statement prior to an event hoping it’ll be ignored. A lot of people were expecting the Airpods to be available today or tomorrow, now when? Christmas?
