99% of Silicon Valley’s political dollars are going to Hillary Clinton

“Data compiled by Crowdpac, a nonpartisan group that tracks campaign donations, shows that employees at technology companies are donating overwhelmingly to Hillary Clinton,” Farai Chideya reports for FiveThirtyEight. “Of the $8.1 million given by tech employees or executives, Clinton got 95 percent, or $7.7 million; Donald Trump got 4 percent, or $299,000; Gary Johnson, the Libertarian candidate and Jill Stein, the Green Party candidate, each got less than 1 percent. Similarly, in the Silicon Valley area, nearly 99 percent of the political donations went to Clinton, and 1 percent to Trump, according to Crowdpac.”

“The big political concerns for the tech industry this election cycle include trade and the status of high-tech H-1B visas,” Chideya reports. “In 2015, the U.S. exported nearly $205 billion worth of computer and electronic products, constituting 13.6 percent of total U.S. exports, the second-largest category of exports. That’s why many tech executives have been alarmed by Trump’s opposition to free trade and trade agreements. Clinton now opposes the Trans-Pacific Partnership but is much more supportive of free trade than Trump is. In addition, Clinton wants to continue the H-1B visa program, while Trump has criticized it and said he will severely limit it.”

MacDailyNews Note: The two major candidates’ positions on H-1B visas as follows:

Hillary Clinton doesn’t mention H-1B visas in her platform.

Donald Trump’s position paper states the following regarding H-1B visas:

· Increase prevailing wage for H-1Bs. We graduate two times more Americans with STEM degrees each year than find STEM jobs, yet as much as two-thirds of entry-level hiring for IT jobs is accomplished through the H-1B program. More than half of H-1B visas are issued for the program’s lowest allowable wage level, and more than eighty percent for its bottom two. Raising the prevailing wage paid to H-1Bs will force companies to give these coveted entry- level jobs to the existing domestic pool of unemployed native and immigrant workers in the U.S., instead of flying in cheaper workers from overseas. This will improve the number of black, Hispanic and female workers in Silicon Valley who have been passed over in favor of the H-1B program.

· Requirement to hire American workers first. Too many visas, like the H- 1B, have no such requirement. In the year 2015, with 92 million Americans outside the workforce and incomes collapsing, we need companies to hire from the domestic pool of unemployed. Petitions for workers should be mailed to the unemployment office, not USCIS.

· End welfare abuse. Applicants for entry to the United States should be required to certify that they can pay for their own housing, healthcare and other needs before coming to the U.S.

· Immigration moderation. Before any new green cards are issued to foreign workers abroad, there will be a pause where employers will have to hire from the domestic pool of unemployed immigrant and native workers. This will help reverse women’s plummeting workplace participation rate, grow wages, and allow record immigration levels to subside to more moderate historical averages.

    1. This isn’t a matter of sending jobs overseas, this is the exact opposite, bringing overseas to America.

It’s SUPER easy for tech companies to move HQ out of the country and hire the majority of workers abroad.

        1. Well, bot, why don’t you stop taking advantage of the lower prices of imported goods. Nobody is making you buy that Chinese assembled cell phone. You could be accused of supporting a company that as much or more than any other puts Americans out of work. In fact, Apple shields itself from guilt of pathetic environmental and labor conditions in China by completely outsourcing assembly to other companies. So it touts its record while its sub suppliers literally get away with anything. Just like any other corporation focused on profit alone.

Well, in Apple’s case, profit and gay pride.

        2. First of all ‘homophobic’ is an invented word, and nobody is actually afraid of homosexuals. Second, Apple is led by a homosexual and promotes homosexuality every chance it gets.

Anyone who has even a modicum of knowledge of human biology knows that homosexuality is unnatural and harmful, but that doesn’t make them hate people who are afflicted in that way any more than they’d hate people with cancer.
It’s just that people with cancer know they’re ill….

        3. Homosexuality is inherent all over the animal kingdom. A minority of people of every generation have been attracted to members of their own sex, and there’s plenty of documented evidence that a minority of other mammals do too.

It’s no more an illness than being left handed. Dogmatic bigotry however is definitely something in need of curing.

        4. Murder is inherent all over the animal kingdom. A minority of people of every generation have murdered other members of their species, and there’s plenty of documented evidence that a minority of other mammals do too.

It’s no more an illness than being left handed. Dogmatic bigotry however is definitely something in need of curing.

        5. Murder too radical for you? Try this instead…

“Pedophilia is inherent all over the animal kingdom. A minority of people of every generation have had sexual relations with underage members of their species, and there’s plenty of documented evidence that a minority of other mammals do too.

It’s no more an illness than being left handed. Dogmatic bigotry however is definitely something in need of curing.”

The “illness” is the fallacious proposition that if animals do it, it must be “okay.”

        6. And there’s your problem. You equate two adults acting within the bounds of freedom to live their lives according to who they are with actions that cause harm to others.

There’s no equivalence. This is why your logic on many subjects is so broken, because you genuinely cannot see the nuances in any situation.

And hence why your life is going to be so full of continual disappointment.

As I said, you’re truly a bizarre individual. Angry, bitter, and destined to repeat your own destructive behaviour.

          I pity you.

        7. I can tell you exactly why: America doesn’t make anything anymore…which begs the question: Why doesn’t America make anything anymore?

Here’s why: The wholesale betrayal of American labor and her citizens by globalist politicians and banking cartels…since the installation of CIA George “A new world order is coming into view” Bush, followed by Horndog “NAFTA” Billy Clinton, followed by Dubya “Patriot Act” Bush, followed by Barack “The Muslim Brotherhood” Obama….with Hillary “Dream of hemispheric open borders” Merkel waiting in the wings.

One person stands alone in the fight for American sovereignty: Donald Trump.

        8. Botty, you might want to emigrate now to your island with First. The most accurate poll aggregator in recent history has given Drumph less than 15% chance of winning. http://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2016-election-forecast/

I think that’s generous given that Drumph hasn’t signed up for the policies that the GOP gave him to post on his website. In fact, Drumph’s talking points are as often as not directly opposed to established republican platform of the last 4 decades. Worse, Drumph doesn’t have a coherent plan to do anything for the evangelicals and tea party factions who assume (wrongly) that somebody in a Drumph administration would correct Drumph’s ad libbed policies. Not gonna happen because as soon as someone attempts to correct Drumph with facts, he throws you under a bus and then spends the next month talking about it. Nobody is going to keep this whiny sore loser on task, all he wants is to play ruler.

As for Hilary: she released her tax returns. She’s endured 40 years of partisan attacks and has plenty of unflattering baggage. But nobody has ever been able to bring forth evidence to personnally convict her of breaking any laws, not even a significant fine. Her husband yes, her no. Meanwhile Drumph has always had an active lawsuit against him and during the election hinted he would bring forth 22 lawsuits against people he felt were not flattering him enough. The response letter from the NY Times to Drumph’s whining about too much coverage from the women he’s insulted or violated is an absolute classic. It shows how little the man knows about the law and the Constitution.

If you are a conservative with any principles at all, you would withdraw your vote for Drumph until the lying bag of excrement releases his tax returns.

    1. BTW: Besides not being morally fit, Clinton is not physically fit to be president, either.

Hillary Has Abnormal Eye Movements, Say Majority of Doctors Surveyed

Concerns about Hillary Clinton’s health have been subdued after her three debate performances. She presented her ability to survive 4-and-a-half hours on a stage with Donald Trump as proof of sufficient stamina to serve as commander-in-chief.

“She evidently intended this as a joke, although I suspect our combat veterans would not be amused,” states AAPS executive director Jane Orient, M.D.

Videos are, however, circulating on the internet, from her rather brief and rare appearances in public, which are purported to show pathological eye movements.

“These are quick, episodic, and inconsistent,” states Dr. Orient, who is an internist. “So we decided to ask doctors on our email list to have a look at one of the videos. A helpful tool is to paste the URL into http://RowVid.com and watch it at half or quarter speed.”

Nearly two-thirds of respondents said they saw abnormal movements. Only 15% did not, and 21% were unsure. There are long segments in which the eye movements appear normal.

About 60% of those who saw abnormal movements thought “the cause could be a potentially disabling neurological condition,” and none of them were willing to say that it isn’t.

Such movements signify an abnormality in portions of the brain that coordinate the eye muscles. There is a long differential diagnosis. Possibilities the respondents suggested include increased intracranial pressure (she is at risk for that because of her history of head trauma and a transverse sinus clot); a drug effect; or a chronic degenerative neurological condition. Parkinson’s disease is mentioned—with drug treatment concealing most manifestations but causing the eye signs.

Doctors were asked which tests would be helpful, and 37 responded. The most common one was a full neurological examination by unbiased specialists, including a neuro-ophthalmologist.

“A neuro-ophthalmologist could do a structured examination, but it might be normal at a moment in time. The video clips need to be explained,” stated Dr. Orient. “A cardiologist might do an electrocardiogram that is perfectly normal—but he will also look at a 24-hour monitor that may show a transient life-threatening rhythm disturbance.”

A collection of additional clips in slow motion has been posted.

“As Hillary revealed to the public, perhaps illegally, the President may have only four minutes to respond to a nuclear threat,” said Dr. Orient. “The public needs to know whether she is concealing a serious, progressive illness that may impair memory, reasoning, alertness, or ability to think quickly at a critical time.”

  1. For too many Dem/Lib/Progs, one pet issue supersedes all of the other issues (for Cook, it’s H-1B visas so he can get cheap labor – see below). So, even though Cook agrees more with Republicans than Democrats on corporate taxation and other issues, he cuts off his nose to spite his face.

Tim, it’d be cheaper to pay American workers a fair wage and get a sound corporate tax policy than it would be to continue importing cheap foreign labor on H-1B visas and be stuck with Democrats who love to overtax and tax the wrong things which stifles the economy overall (hurting the business of selling consumer goods, including electronics, by the way).

American companies and their shareholders, in general, want skilled labor as CHEAPLY as possible. That’s a main reason why Tim Cook, Apple and other tech firms are not supporting Trump – they want unlimited H-1Bs, so they can pay Ajeet from India half what they’d have to pay Tom from Tulsa who can’t find a job after graduating from college and has to live in his parents basement because Apple got Ajeet from India to do it on the CHEAP.

H1-B visas for skilled workers DO NOT EQUAL uneducated illegal aliens streaming across the southern border intent on cashing in on American taxpayer’s largesse while setting up shop in the domestic drug trade and/or other crimes (gangs, rape, robbery, etc.).

Trump is for upholding the laws already on the books designed to protect our borders and our nation’s sovereignty.

    1. For too many Rep/Tea/Cons, one pet issue supersedes all of the other issues. Example: I hear about Supreme Court from a lot of Trump supporters as being their only justification for supporting him.

I’m actually with Trump on the first bullet point above, regarding prevailing wage for H1Bs. Let’s even that playing field.

    2. The reason that the US is GREAT is that it has a diverse population that respects one another and welcomes in newcomers. Immigration is what made the United States. The word UNITED in the name of the country is its greatest strength. Donald Trump has been the greatest divisive force in the US since communism after the Second World War.

It is time to close the chapter on the Beleaguered Trump campaign. The choice is no longer between the lesser of two evils, the choice is clear: Save the US from a DICTATORSHIP.

    3. I beg to differ. I know that H-1B is an issue, but the rank and file of Silicon Valley would agree with you for obvious reasons. Easy access to foreign talent lowers their personal value.

I believe the immense support of Hillary Clinton is because the vast majority of people working in Silicon Valley are younger, inexperienced, naive, and very politically unaware.

They’ve come out of colleges that are incubators for leftist reasoning (oxymoron I know), and they haven’t learned to think like individuals. They are collectivists. Basically, techno-New-Bolsheviks who have swallowed the entire “America is Unjust” line of bullshit from the liberal party.

They are largely white and politically unsophisticated. They’ve gone from keggers to coding. If you challenge the perceptions of the world they have been force fed over the last few years, they respond like Asimov A.I.s who have been given a problem that the three laws of Robotics cannot resolve.

They hate Donald Trump. He is an old white person. Nevermind that the Clintons are just as white and just as old. Donald is an old white man. There’s more than enough reason to hate him right there.

They suffer from white guilt. Few if any have the substance of character and courage to realize they have no reason to feel guilty much less vocalize it.

They think racism and homophobia and this-ism and that-ism are the true problems of the world. The “everyone is a victim” foundation upon which the Democratic party thrives, like dung beetles on a heap of crap, has become their religion.

They are incapable of recognizing that inquiry is the foundation upon which scientific thought is based. “Question Everything” is anathema to them.

They are walking liberal automatons, minds closed tight and hermetically sealed against any contrary line of reasoning. No matter how absurd or hypocritical their own ideas are.

The depth of leftist absurdity is only challenged by the breadth of leftist hypocrisy. Both are well nigh infinite. The convictions and principles of conservatives and libertarians simply cannot compete. How can the lofty rhetoric of Jefferson, Locke, Hobbes or Rousseau compete with Oprah?

The left owns the dysfunctional minds of the youth. They control the universities, the entertainment industry, the news media, almost all mass communications, and the only time right wing ideas make it through, is when they are set up to be discredited. Witness how easily a man who is not only a neurosurgeon but the Head of Neurosurgery at John’s Hopkins was literally made out to be stupid by the left, simply for believing in God. That’s power. Witness how a hapless Republican electorate was steered into choosing Donald Trump as a candidate. How else could one make Hillary Clinton look viable? This is extraordinary power. The media anoints their candidate and simultaneously sets up the fall guy for the opposition.

Consequently, it is no surprise that the PokeMon-Go generation would overwhelmingly support Clinton over Trump, as if there is a substantive difference.

      1. The Thetheloniousmac, extremely well said! I’m with you 100%.

The only positive aspect of a Hillary Presidency is that when the economy implodes in the next year or two, it will not be Trump’s populist views that are the cause for the crash. Instead, the Liberal/Progressive agenda will have to take the blame for the next depression.

Wait, what am I thinking? The Liberals will not take responsibility of any failure. Instead, Putin will be blamed.

  2. “We have got to stop sending jobs overseas. It’s pretty simple: If you’re paying $12, $13, $14 an hour for factory workers and you can move your factory South of the border, pay a dollar an hour for labor,…have no health care—that’s the most expensive single element in making a car— have no environmental controls, no pollution controls and no retirement, and you don’t care about anything but making money, there will be a giant sucking sound going south.”
    – Ross Perot, 1992

  3. Hey, First 2014, Then 2016:

How does it feel to be backing the wrong candidate for the third presidential election in a row? Remember the definition of insanity?

The Republican Party and conservatism in general as we know them are gone. Thanks to harsh voices like yours, Botvinnik, Limbaugh, Hannity, Fox News, etc., the Republican Party came up with probably the worst presidential candidate in history. And to use an MDN metaphor, the US electorate is about to go “thermonuclear” on Republicans. Couldn’t happen to a nicer group of “deplorables”.

Why don’t you get a jump on things and change your name right now to: First 2018, Then 2020?

        1. Are you aware that this is a MacIntosh and Apple news site? If you want to spout your politics, please go somewhere else. Hopefully it takes people like you forever to push your agenda of party politics on the world.

    1. Since Obama took office, 85 of 98 state legislative bodies have become more Republican, Democrats have lost 900+ state legislature seats, 12 governorships, 69 House seats, and 13 Senate seats. That’s some legacy.

      1. In Texas, at least, some of that shift in state legislative bodies is due to political gerrymandering of districts that has resulted in multiple court actions. If those in power get to define the districts, then they tend to marginalize the opposition.

    2. https://twitter.com/TruthinGov2016/status/790730555725864960

Beware the enthusiasm gap, those who count their chickens before they hatch.

The IBD/TIPP poll has been the most accurate poll in recent presidential elections.

      IBD/TIPP Day 7 Results: Oct. 25

      Clinton: 41.6%
      Trump: 40.8%
      Johnson: 8.4%
      Stein: 3.2%

Margin of error: +/- 3.6 percentage points.

What’s going to happen in the voting booth: Johnson is most certainly not going to get 8.4%. However much of that he does lose, nearly 100% of it is going to Trump on Election Day. Mark my words.

    3. Re Just The Facts:
We are still getting a Republican.

The Goldwater girl was uncovered by the Podesta emails to be saying something completely different behind closed doors. She loves the TPP, she is for light touch (read captive) regulation, no controls on Banksters, and whatever Benjamin Netanyahu wants.

The Trump true believers think we will see some kind of Brexit result on Election Day, but my guess is that we end up with a Clinton White House, a Democratic controlled Senate and a Republican controlled House on a razor thin majority.

When the polls close watch Georgia, Florida and Texas. If Hillary wins those it is h=going to be a long night for the RepubliCons.

  4. Interesting how 99% of the people who are moving us forward are Democrats. I wonder why that is? Side note: if MDN had an ounce of class, they’d put a muzzle on their Republican bias.

    1. What “Republican bias?” What you see here are simple facts. It’s not MDN’s fault that Clinton won’t dare talk about H-1B visas. Clinton is owned by the establishment, including Silicon Valley multinational corporations. She does whatever she’s paid to do by her owners.

You see “Republican bias” wherever there is basic reporting of facts because the U.S media is BROKEN and fatally slanted to the left. When you see something reported right down the middle, just each candidate’s positions stated without a thumb and a foot on the scale for the Democrat Party, you see it as “Republican bias.”

It’d be laughable, if it weren’t so sad.

    2. moving forward?…a brief history of the Democrat party:
      • The Civil War – Jefferson Davis, democrat
      • Founding of the Ku Klux Klan – democrats
      • Creation of the Federal Reserve and Federal Income Tax – Woodrow Wilson, democrat
      • Creation of Planned Parenthood – democrats
      • World War I – Woodrow Wilson, democrat
      • The Great Depression – Franklin Roosevelt, democrat
      • World War II – Franklin Roosevelt, democrat
      • Creation of the CIA – Harry Truman, democrat
      • The Korean War – Harry Truman, democrat
      • The Vietnam War – Lyndon Johnson, democrat
      • Creation of La Raza – democrats
      • Creation of BLM – democrats

Democrats: The Party of hate, war, death, lies and poverty.

      1. You blame Roosevelt for the Great Depression that started about 18 months before he took office? Classic revisionist history.

And you forgot the rest of the stuff you can blame Democrats for: Social Security, Medicare, Civil Rights, Freedom of Information Act, The Internet, The Peace Corps, Endangered Species Act, Voting Rights Act, Unemployment Insurance, Winning World War II, The Marshal Plan, Universal Public Education, the National Weather Service, Rural Electrification, the mission to the Moon and, oh yeah, killing Osama Bin Laden.

        1. Nope, you’re wrong. Don’t
need to defend it. Doesn’t do any good anyway. You are a member of the “just make shit up club.”

You remind me of the fellow in the back of the class who was too lazy to study or do research. The term paper reads like the National Enquirer.

You kjnow so little, it reminds me that I must go teach my dog a new trick so that he can surpass your IQ.

        2. • Dwight Eisenhower’s Civil Rights Act of 1957 was blocked by democrat senators.
          • Gotta give you the internet one, I forgot democrat Al Gore invented it.
          • Richard Nixon was president when Americans first set foot on the moon.
          • Universal public education is now Feducation, when it was locally controlled, it was effective, you can thank The Department of Feduation of Jimmuh “Trilateral” Carter for that. It is now merely a tool for indoctrination.
          • The Marshall Plan was a good thing, George C. Marshall was not a democrat.
          • In 1968, Congress refused to further finance Lyndon’s Vietnam War…his answer? Move the protected Social Security fund to general funds by Executive Order…putting SS on a destiny with bankruptcy.

“Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to be Kaplanmike.”

        3. The dims also took another “loan” from SS later on. If they would put it back-with the interest due- SS would be back in the black, for many generations to come.

        4. The Democrats back then are not the Democrats of now. Same with the other party. Do you honestly think Abraham Lincoln would be chosen as GOP candidate these days?

    1. “It’s Clinton who wants to start an air war with Russia over Syria by calling for a no fly zone. We have 2,000 nuclear missiles on hair trigger alert, and Michael Gorbachev, the former premier of the Soviet Union, is saying we are closer to nuclear war than we have ever been. Under Hillary Clinton, we could slide into nuclear war very quickly from her declared policy in Syria. I sure won’t sleep well at night if Hillary Clinton is elected….Trump who does not want to go to war with Russia. He wants to seek modes of working together, which is the root that we need to follow, not to go into confrontation and nuclear war with Russia.”

      Jill Stein

        1. Botty? I still can’t believe you reproduced with anything other than your hand. Was it the left or right this time?
Opps. Almost forgot… You don’t do left.

  5. That election still going on? I guess it shows that the dumber the voters the longer it takes them to elect a leader.

This election it does end right? Sometime this decade? Not that I’m in any rush, the free and civilized world is such a much more peaceful place when they are bickering amongst themselves.

  6. MDN used to be a Mac news web site. Now it’s just a shell of what it once was, chock full of polarized discussions of politics. Might as well rename the site PoliticalDailyNews.

    1. not really…
George Soros has given an estimated $9 million to Hillary-favoring super PACS in 2015 and 2016, more than anyone else. But he’s not Hillary’s only billionaire. Not by a long shot. “Within the past year,” …”a total of 24 billionaires have donated more than $42.5 million to two Clinton campaign arms and three allied super PACs.”

      http://www.investors.com/politics/editorials/george-soros-the-hillary-democrats-billionaire-puppetmaster/

  7. “In the year 2015, with 92 million Americans outside the workforce and incomes collapsing…”

Utter, total nonsense, the usual from The Donald. Those 92 million outside the workforce are virtually all retirees, students, stay-at-home parents and the disabled. And income collapsing? 2015 say the fastest income rise in a generation.

A lot more of us could get behind Donald Trump as an “outsider” candidate if he wasn’t so full of crap. He wants to shake up the system Fine. But don’t lie about that system to say we’re in a tailspin. We’re really not.

      1. Transfer of wealth from the middle class to Trumps pockets is his one and only policy. If you actually care about jobs and Main Street economy, you would never vote for any of the asshats the GOP considered this year. You could vote for a 3rd party though.

  8. I’ll say something almost all Americans can agree on. Both Clinton and Trump are horrible candidates and it’s a joke that with all the qualified people in America, this is the the 2 parties could come up with.

  9. Well, someone finds Princess Hillary to be the lesser of two stupendous evils. But I’m fully expecting her to, one way or another, allow the diabolical TPP, TTIP and TiSA abomination ‘treaties’ to become law (albeit thoroughly UNconstitutional law) in the USA. AKA evil.

And no, I don’t consider the Trump Drumpf Dummy to be any less evil. He’s simply evil in his own, sad ways. 😛 A pox on BOTH your parties.

      1. He also said he would release his tax returns. I can’t believe even you are stupid enough to believe anything Trump says. It’s a lie a minute with Trump. Nonpartisan analysis shows no candidate has ever lied as much as Trump.
