“A distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack against DynDNS is causing havoc online, with many major websites reportedly unavailable,” Matthew Hughes reports for TNW. “According to Dyn DNS, the attack started at 11:10 UTC, and it targeted its managed DNS service.”
“Many sites and services use DynDNS as their upstream DNS provider, including Github, Twitter, SaneBox, Reddit, AirBnB, and Heroku,” Hughes reports. “All of these are reportedly experiencing outages and downtime, either partially or totally.”
“This outage is mostly affecting users in the east coast of the US,” Hughes reports. “It’s not immediately obvious who is behind this DDoS attack. However, the fact that the attackers were able to disrupt the DNS provider used by some of the most popular websites tells a lot about their abilities.”
Mr. Assange is still alive and WikiLeaks is still publishing. We ask supporters to stop taking down the US internet. You proved your point. pic.twitter.com/XVch196xyL

This is probably the test run. How long can “they” keep communication down?
Just checking to make sure everything “works correctly” on voting day.
4 minutes.
Fortunately not down here in my area The Banana Republic of South Florida. What a nightmare this must be. It makes me shudder thinking about these bad guys and what they’re capable of doing.
Hillary Merkel is the new Jan Brady: “It’s always Russia, Russia, Russia!”
Botvinnik, how right you are. It is always Russia’s fault.
Hell, I had a flat tire this morning on my way to work and I know Putin did it.
heh
If not Russia it’s Bush. 🙈🙉🐵
And some goob tried to convince me today that Clinton just requested Russians “monitor” the U.S. polling booths.
It seems like the Trumplicans have conveniently forgotten that America and Russia were at war for 50 years, that Russia recently invaded the sovereign nation known as Ukraine, and Russia just harmed our partners in Syria. Oh, what did I see today? Russia just sent some war ships into the Mediterranean. With friends like these who needs enemies?
What war was that?
Cold war?
Worcester, Massachusetts area Twitter down.

We can only hope Facebook is down and stays down. That alone will raise the IQ of America by 20-30 points.
I wonder… if you were sitting on the beach at Pearl Harbor would you have ignored the evidence right before your eyes that Japan was attacking? All the qualified experts agree on the evidence of repeated attacks on the United States by hostile foreign powers—real attacks with expensive real-world consequences. No, denial is not just a river in Egypt.
The “hostile foreign power” resides at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
Hey Botvinnik- F-off and move to your homeland Russia
But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.
Only in the netherworld of The Union Of Soviet Socialist Sorosia does the Declaration of Independence get downvotes.
I read on the internet that Jefferson drafted the Declaration of Independence and Franklin edited it; in so doing he changed “We hold these truths to be sacred and undeniable,” to “We hold these truths to be self-evident.” The former is an expression of faith; the latter an expression of rationality. Either way, the document is a strong moral compass for our people and should be studied by every generation of schoolchildren; and studied anew by every presidential candidate.
I’ve read that also, Franklin was said to have noted that “sacred and undeniable” smacked of the pulpit. Dunno if it’s true or not though.
Almost to a man, the founding fathers insisted on a strong, founding principle of self-determination, radically different from the rest of the world’s worrisome dependence on this or that religion, ruling class, or any other form of subservience other than to their own community. They baked that protection into the Constitution, where it does battle to this very day.
Jefferson mentions God four times in the Declaration, religion is protected in the First Amendment…so, no, not really.
God is on my side, and yours, and the salt of the earth. Not Caesar’s.
who said that?
Incredible arrogance! The downvores are for *you* botty, and you numerous attempts on this forum to inject polititard comments into Mac discussions.
MDN may live your clickbait posts, but most of the forum participants loathe you.
Has it gone this far? Botty would rather support Russia than his own country?
uh, Melvin, it wasn’t mean ol’ Vlad Putin on his коммодор 64, it was The Revenge Of The Nerds…try and keep up, jackass.
Not yet he doesn’t.
Replying to Botvinnik
And the Bamster is trying his best to cede DNS control over to his globalist friends. Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea can’t believe their good luck.
Where did you hear that idiotic idea? Who told you that???
Do you actually even know how internet works??
One way in which the internet works is to decentralise news networks, so that tribal semaphore systems can take root and thrive, creating self-reinforcing echo chambers exploiting kludges in the human brain, using psychological shaped charges.
Typical liberal ignoramus you are. Where do you live? under a rock? Oh I see you only read the typical liberal crap. Just search ‘Obama cedes DNS control’ and feast on dozens upon dozens of articles on that one subject …so who is the idiot now?
As herself said, tribal echo-chamber. Just because Breitbart says it, it doesn’t mean it is actually true. You really need to venture out of that hole every once in a while.
CNN.com is down (from San Diego area).
The day is not that bad after all.
Ah, I wondered why Twitter was so civil today. All the Trump/Hillary stuff is missing.
This just in. . .The company in charge of security is Microsoft…
When asked about the security holes, Microsoft’s media representative said, “I like our strategy; I like it a lot!”
Didn’t Obama or Kerry threaten Putin last week with a cyber attack? I though that I read they messed up something in Russia’s’ banking system. Could be payback be a bitch!
