“A group of thieves stole over $13,000 in iPhones from the Apple store in the Natick Mall in a ‘flash mob’ robbery,” CBS Boston reports. “Natick Police Lt. Cara Rossi said a group of seven teens were only in the store for less than one minute, but were able to steal 19 phones.”
“In the video below, the thieves can be seen cutting the security cords that tethered the iPhones to their displays all at the same time,” CBS Boston reports. “They fled the mall on foot, and police were unable to find them.”
Lt. Rossi said both male and female thieves were involved, and that they all wore hoodies and hats to help conceal their identities,” CBS Boston reports. “Natick Police said they believed the thieves may be connected to a similar theft that took place in Hingham in September.”

MacDailyNews Take: Wow, and these iPhones were even tethered! Hopefully, Apple’s software has already bricked the devices and the perpetrators are quickly caught and punished to the full extent of the law.

Hood-Rats making Boston proud.
What doofuses not to know Apple can brick the stolen devices at will, only resulting in a net gain of quality prison time & hard core Bruno’s pumping on their posterior without prompting.
Sorry kiddies. You stole bricks that Apple can track.
“Apple can brick the stolen devices at will…”
Total and utter bullshit.
The demo devices are not fully functional.
They don’t need to be bricked, and they’re not tracked.
Ignorant prick. You keep commenting here – ALWAYS on negative articles – but this just shows you don’t have the slightest clue what you are talking about.
Actually I had read that too, just forgot to mention it. “Ignorant prick” I think is a little harsh and speaks more of your own nastiness, agenda with pathetic thought processes & woebegone personality.
Another name we haven’t seen before criticizing me. Hmm, I wonder who it could be?? I will point out again it’s a free country and there is such a thing as freedom of speech, which you try to stifle at every turn. Not having the “slightest clue” paints yourself pretty accurately troll as these kinds of doofus critiques boomerang. Get a life & GFY.
Nice to see the “hope and change” voters doing their part……guess those freshly bricked iPhones will make nice drink coaster for that fresh chilled MD2020…….
CLOWNS!!!
Its the Obama generation at “work.”
Nice to see the predictable cartoonish comments showing up.
B and bill clowns laking the brain power to be more than simple trolls
Racist much?
So, you are saying these were Mitt Romney supporters??? Or John McCain supporters? Truth is not necessarily racism. Well, at least for those who don’t see the world through their race-colored lens glasses.
No, Rmoney supporters steal much more by using credit default swaps, subprime lending schemes, and host of other banking and lending frauds like the ones that through our economy into the Great Recession.
No, it was stupid, just plain stupid to say it was anybodies supporters. Sheesh.
Grow up.
The GPS will have tracked them to their houses. Check their closets for the matching hoodies and the police work is done!
That mall needs better quality security cameras!
When you’ve watched as many security recordings as I have you come to the conclusion that crap video recorded using crappy proprietary codecs is required for security cams, for some reason. Everyone wants to record a month’s worth of video on a 128KB drive.
THAT’S funny, yet true. No one wants to pay for the better stuff until after they need it.
But…but…aren’t those cameras vertically integrated systems that the OEM controls both HW and SW and makes for a better experience?
Perhaps the Apple employees should be a little more vigilant. I love the apple store and have used Macs since 1990 but at times, I think the Apple Store employees are a little too casual and oblivious to what is going on around them. When the video showed the bunch of hoody wearing persons walking in, I would think the greeter should have immediately thought – what is this? A little more training might help.
Right. Remember Australia? Had the store done anything about those thugs, the rally cry of liberals from coast to coast would have gone out. “RACISM!!! OMG! RACISM!!!”
When I worked PT at an Apple Store, they specifically said don’t confront people if they steal anything. Notify security. Telling employees to tackle thieves is a big liability if they get hurt.
Techno-thuggery.
Scum lives matter?
It seems like you prefer the option of shooting people for stealing. Guns aren’t the solution to all of your perceived problems.
You obviously aren’t aware of laws in many states that allow you to protect yourself and property with deadly force in certain circumstances. So yeah, many seem to think that and I’m one of them having been in a couple of spontaneous deadly situations not of my making. Cowards will never get it.
I will gladly face off with you and your guns while I am completely unarmed. Who is the coward again?
You are confusing stupidity with bravery, and I highly doubt that you can back up that big mouth.
This is the consequences of social media. The newest scourge of the world. Just ask Kardashian.
BLM field trip.
I wonder if they had their permission slips.
I knew before I even clicked on the link….
(which is horrendously sad)
So Apple was victimized by the very culture they helped spawn. I fail to see what the problem is. Fruity Lives Matter. Yo!
When was the last time we ever heard of a mass theft of Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phones?
“and the perpetrators are quickly caught and punished to the full extent of the law”
Oh MDN, your naivety is charming. Boston will never prosecute underage social justice warriors.
$13,000 in iPhones? So what’s that equate to, about 20-30 units at most?
Ok. Waited the entire day just to see if anyone of you prats knows Jack about Apple.
You don’t.
Nice to make such a statement without enlightening us on your breadth of “about Apple” knowledge that makes you ‘prat-less’, but not necessarily prick-less.
