Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge phone sparks house fire in Ohio

“A cell phone sparked the flames of a house fire in Painesville, according to emergency crews,” Tara Molina reports for News 5 ABC Cleveland. “There have been several reported issues with Note 7, Samsung issuing a massive recall after batteries started going up in flames, but it was a different Samsung phone, S-7 Edge, that started the fire.”

“‘It was charging at the time, we believe that’s the probable cause,’ Painesville Fire Chief Mark Mlachak said,” Molina reports. “‘If somebody has one of those phones, I would definitely be talking to the provider and see if the phone is safe,’ Chief Mlachak said.”

“Danielle Boutilier said she was using the charger that came with the phone when it set on fire,” Molina reports. “‘People keep their phones by their pillows, right next to them while they sleep. Be careful. That could be you over a cell phone,’ Danielle Boutilier said.”

MacDailyNews Take: Now it’s a Galaxy S7 Edge. Does Samsung cobble together any non-flammable iPhone knockoffs (or washing machines)?

Don’t waste your money on a smartphone from an IP-trampling South Korean dishwasher maker. Be smart. Get your smartphone from the company that created the modern smartphone. Just as smart people don’t buy their personal computers from anyone but the company that brought the world modern personal computing.

    1. It’s hilarious that Samsung is saying 26 reports were false. It’s like they are trying to gloss over the issue by implying their customers are at fault. Did they get their PR out of cereal box?
