Artifacts are also greatly reduced, thanks no doubt to the upgraded ISP.”

And Consumer Report has proved once again to be batshit crazy lose canon finding out that the iPhone 7 camera is “the same” as iPhone 6s camera.
I can not believe they are still unable to install a proper testing procedure that would exclude such weird fluctuations in their “conclusions”.
I was going to say something about CR having their head’s up their a$$ but you pretty much did that.
My guess is they are not happy with the amount of advertising money they get from Apple.
iPhone 7 score 86. Samsung Galaxy S6 87. Galaxy S7 88. As much progress as Apple made, they still lag behind last year’s Samsung.
There are plenty of good reasons to choose iPhone, but having the best camera is no longer one of them. It’s sloppy that the image quality still lags behind and an indictment of Cook’s weak leadership.
Really? Please point to where those scores are from? All of the photography expert reviews I have read put this iPhone 7 camera as the best “ever” in a smartphone.
I highly doubt that Samsung the “copier” has invented anything beyond Apple.
I think it depends on what kind of photography you do with your cell phone, and whether you factor in price into your quality judgments.
Tom’s Guide is very reputable and they did find the Samsung cameras to slightly edge out the new iPhone 7 models.

It’s common knowledge that Apple is in a dogfight with both Sony and Samsung on camera quality bragging rights. Don’t dismiss the “S” competitors before you see what they can do.
I think it’s all a moot point because if you care about great photography, you can still do much better with a dedicated camera. The optics on any cell phone are the limitation, you’re just never going to overcome those physics. Even Sir Jony had no choice but to put in a bulge for the camera. To have a better camera will require a bigger bulge or a thicker phone.
They are from DxOMark. Why don’t you read the linked article before commenting? Other phones ranking higher than iPhone 7 include the HTC 10 and Moto Z and Sony phones.
Like any review their ratings are somewhat subjective, but all of the higher-rated cameras have 1 thing in common – bigger image sensors. Ya canna change the laws of physics captain.
Samsung not invented anything beyond Apple? Are you being funny or just very, very uninformed? AMOLED screens, wireless charging, fast charging, iris scanning, first in waterproofing (and their IP68 is still better than iPhone). Don’t get me wrong – I love iOS. But Apple is coasting on past glories like an aging high school athlete now.
