“iOS 10 and macOS Sierra support a new feature called Universal Clipboard that lets you copy text or graphics on one device and paste them into documents on another,” Jeff Gamet writes for The Mac Observer.
“It really is as simple as copy-and-paste—assuming everything is configured correctly,” Gamet writes. “You need to sign in to the same Apple ID on all of your devices, and make sure Bluetooth is turned on. Also make sure your devices are all on the same local network, too.”
Gamet writes, “Universal Clipboard is part of Handoff, so we’ll need to make sure that’s turn on for all of your devices, too.”
Simple instructions in the full article here.
MacDailyNews Note: Gamet’s listed system requirements for Universal Clipboard are incorrect.
Apple’s “System requirements for Continuity on Mac, iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Apple Watch” are here.
“…make sure that’s turn on for all of your devices…”
And I thought that I was very familiar with my iOS devices. Who knew they could be aroused?
The lists for Handoff/Universal clipboard are wrong. Here is the correct list:
Handoff and Instant Hotspot are supported by the following Mac models, and require OS X Yosemite:
MacBook Air (Mid 2012 and later)
MacBook Pro (Mid 2012 and later)
iMac (Late 2012 and later)
Mac mini (Late 2012 and later)
Mac Pro (Late 2013)
Thanks…I was wondering why it wasn’t showing in my early 2011 17″ MBP. That sucks royally.
I still can’t get this feature to work. ugh.
Did MDN get hacked? When you look at their “take” at the end of the article and you click to see the system requirements for Continuity, it takes you to Rush Limbaugh’s webpage with his critique on last night’s presidential debate.
I suspect that their error is due to either
• Oktoberfest
or
• Derangement from watching the first Clinton v Trump debate.
This, I believe, is the actual LINK that MDN intended to post for the Mac Observer article:

Just curious. Form a technical POV is there reason you need Bluetooth for a feature like this? I mean why not just use iCloud / network for it just like the other syncing features.
