“The new water-resistant iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus have made waves this month, and now we can finally see how they survive actual waves,” Eric Mack reports for CNET.
“Pro surfer Kai Lenny took both the new iPhones, as well as the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, to see how they fared after some quality time with the salty, unforgiving waters of the Pacific Ocean,” Mack reports. “Lenny and gadget warranty firm SquareTrade attached the phones to the front of Lenny’s board along with a GoPro to capture the adventure, which you can watch for yourself.”
“The iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, which don’t have the same water-resistant design as the latest generation, don’t fare very well. Neither lasted much longer than 5 minutes in the water,” Mack reports. “The iPhone 7 proved to be the overall survivor… Both it and the 7 Plus survived a full half-hour of water sports, but the 7 Plus’s audio suffered greater impact than the smaller iPhone 7. By the way, surfing is one of a number of activities that Apple specifically discourages attempting with an iPhone, so you might not want to try this at home.”

I’ve been surfing with original Apple Watch since day one. It stays connected to iPhone in the van sometimes. A little more connection range would be awesome
i have been Wearing my original Apple watch (sport) in all kinds of Ocean sports..for more than a year now.
Windsurfing and kiteboarding… swiming…etc…
No problem… with the exception of having to let the Speaker dry if submerged more than a few feet……
the Searies 2 will be just sooooo much better .. with self purging Speakers, 50m water resitance:) … Gps.. and speed and all the other goodies 😊
if the iphone7 waterproofing is half as good as the ORIGINAL AppleWatch… ill be one Happy camper.. let alone if it actually performs better.
