“In an interview with ABC News‘ Robin Roberts, Apple CEO Tim Cook made comments suggesting that augmented reality would be a future focus for Apple,” Mike Wuerthele reports for AppleInsider.
“‘There’s virtual reality and there’s augmented reality — both of these are incredibly interesting,’ Cook said in the interview. ‘But my own view is that augmented reality is the larger of the two, probably by far,'” Wuerthele reports. “While Cook was clearly more enthused about the commercial potential of augmented reality over virtual reality, Cook did not dismiss the possibility of VR being an option for the company to pursue in the future. ‘There’s some really cool areas there for education and gaming that we have a lot of interest in,’ Cook said of VR.”
Wuerthele reports, “Cook has previously commented on the potential of augmented reality for Apple in the long run.”

It really is. Thanks to this new technology, I was able to achieve my childhood dream of catching Pokemon in the real world! Things are only going to get better when this new tech improves.
Apple has got Google Android peddlers do all the real world market research for them. They couldn’t be more happier with their commitment to research new rumoured products for Apple. Hey where are the net books……..I want one.
Apple had the 1st iPad prototype done in 2001, nine years before a release to the public, AR and VR are at least 10 years away.
2017 is, IMHO, when the plethora of current VR/AR choices get cut down to the most viable and promising. What’s still missing, or at least not apparent, is a killer game or application of the technology. Pokemon Go AR doesn’t do it for me. But it’s a fun step forward indeed. It clearly pleases a lot of people.
AR is meh. VR is astounding. Like when people saw television for the first time. It’s not “there” yet but I look forward to Apple’s entry in the field with a dedicated viewer and content to go with it.
