Apple releases iTunes 12.5.1 with all-new Apple Music design, Siri capability, and more

Apple today released iTunes 12.5.1 featuring an all-new Apple Music design and more.

Now with an all-new Apple Music design which brings greater clarity and simplicity to every aspect of the experience.

This update includes support for iOS 10. It also adds enhancements designed for macOS Sierra including:

• Siri. Play music from your Library and Apple Music using your voice. Just ask Siri.
• Picture-in-Picture. Watch videos as you multitask and use different apps. Your video floats above your desktop in any corner of the screen.

iTunes 12.5.1 is available via Software Update.

MacDailyNews Take: Apple Music is improved. How much of an improvement it is has yet to be determined.

  1. Is anyone else seeing the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge adverts here? The picture of the S7 is taken at almost exactly the same angle as the primary picture of the iPhone 7 on Apple’s website. It seems that Samsung is truly impervious to embarrassment about copying Apple in any way. No shame whatsoever.

  2. Happy: The star ratings are back in Artist view. Check them on in the General preferences under ‘Show:’. Hurray.

And I like the ‘Choose which speakers to use’ button.

Meanwhile, iTunes attempts to populate circular pictures of the artists in my collection, very very very sloooowly. I suspect that new feature is being bombed with demands ATM.

  3. All of the artist thumbnail pics are missing from the ‘Artists’ view – replaced by a generic microphone… It seems that only purchases from the iTunes store have thumbnails, and those are not of album covers. Years and years of accumulating artwork and now this? 80% of my extensive library are of imported CDs. Crap…
