Alleged ‘iPhone 7 Plus’ packaging photo suggests option of bundled wireless ‘AirPods’

“Whether legitimate leaks or simple fakes, photos claiming to show the packaging for Apple’s anticipated ‘iPhone 7’ series continue to surface, with the latest shot suggesting some “iPhone 7 Plus” models could come bundled with new wireless earbuds dubbed ‘AirPods,'” AppleInsider reports.

“The purported ‘iPhone 7 Plus’ back of box was uploaded anonymously and sent to AppleInsider on Thursday. It shows the details for a 32-gigabyte handset model, but features one key difference from earlier leaks,” AppleInsider reports. “Under a description of what’s inside the box, the packaging claims the purchase is bundled with new ‘AirPods Wireless Earphones.’ Earlier leaks instead showed their units including new EarPods with Lightning Connector.”

“Notably, the earlier photos also made mention of a Lightning to Headphone Jack Adapter being included in the box,” AppleInsider reports. “But the latest image for a 32-gigabyte ‘iPhone 7 Plus’ with “AirPods” makes no mention of a 3.5-millimeter headphone adapter being bundled.”

MacDailyNews Take: Providing iPhone buyers with the option of bundled adapters with Lightning EarPods or wireless AirPods would be likely to negate the majority of complaints from the low-information/high-decibel crowd.

  1. Earbud choice is a very personal thing. I won’t use Apple’s current design for earphones. They don’t fit my ears and the design doesn’t allow for different sizes. Apple’s one size fits all just doesn’t work for earbuds. While I am sure to lose the Lightning adapter, that will be my choice.
As I see it, Apple has four options:
    Include lightning earphone,
    Include lightning adapters,
    Include wireless airbuds, or
    Include nothing.
I’m fine with nothing because I use third party wireless headsets. An Apple wireless option doesn’t appeal to me because of Apple’s bud design.

  2. While airpods would allow you to charge your phone and listen at the same time, it only creates a new problem: How to charge your phone and charge your airpods at the same time.. and even then you can’t listen while it’s charging (one would assume).
