“An Apple blog in Russia by the name of iPhones.ru has come across official documentation concerning new Apple products coming to Russia this fall such as the iPhone 7, Apple Watch 2 and wireless ‘AirPods,'” Jack Purcher reports for Patently Apple. “The trademark for AirPods was first discovered by MacRumors last month.”
“According to the Russian website, ‘Manufacturers are required to certify electronic devices for sale on the territory of the Russian Federation. Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Armenia belong to the Eurasian Economic Union (EEMA), therefore, issued certificates are valid on the territory of the four countries. On the website we found documents from August 29, 2016 year involving three new products Apple: Smartphone, watches and wireless headphones,'” Purcher reports. “Unless this is all a mirage and purely invented report, expect to see the new Apple AirPods at Apple’s special iPhone event next Wednesday.”

MacDailyNews Take: We’ll likely stick with our wireless Jaybird X2 Sport Wireless Bluetooth Headphones for now (assuming the Apple AirPods would be at least a $99 item) as they offer long battery life, are easy to charge, easy to pair, light and comfortable, and already work perfectly with our Apple Watches and iPhones.

Never likes the term EarPods
I like AirPods even less.
Perhaps Apple should leave the name iPod lie fallow for a few years and revive it iBook-style as “EyePods” when their VR efforts are fully baked.
Are you sure that an airpod isn’t a helium filled wifi repeater that floats above an outdoor event so that all can easily utilize their digitals.
I love my EarPods. I have two pairs.
I’ve never found Bluetooth to be adequate or intelligent technology. If AirPods depend only upon current Bluetooth technology, I’ll ignore them. If they use better technology, far better bandwidth, I’m in.
Maybe, ALFL, Bluetooth 5 will stop the madness. It won’t show up this year and I don’t expect it in Apple gear until the fall of 2017. But we can at least read about it now:

Side Point: IoT is still incredibly crap technology specifically because it is, with very few exceptions, profoundly UNSAFE and INSECURE. IOW: Not ready for prime time. So don’t fall for rubbish Gee Whiz! garbage about IoT without knowing from testing reviews that it is secure. You don’t want your IoT baby monitor broadcasting your kid all over the Internet. Bad idea.
My molded IEM’s i use for stage as well as my iphone will never be replaced by wireless. Might be good for those that dont need the quality,
How will you charge the wireless headset?
