“In recent days, we’ve heard a very interesting report that [Apple Inc.] may have axed the top of the line ‘Pro’ model of the smartphone, going with a more streamlined lineup,” Bill Maurer writes for Seeking Alpha. “While this may limit the company’s revenue potential slightly, it might be a better choice in the long run.”
“According to Mac Otakara, Apple has decided that it really doesn’t need the ‘Pro’ model after all,” Maurer writes. “Reportedly, the three phone lineup using a ‘Pro'” model was just in case the company could not produce enough dual-lens cameras. In that scenario, the 4.7 inch model and 5.5 inch ‘Plus’ model would have stayed with single lens cameras, with the reported 5.8 inch ‘Pro’ version getting the dual-lens.”
“Honestly, you have to ask yourself if a four model lineup made sense with screen sizes of 4 inches, 4.7 inches, 5.5 inches, and 5.8 inches. Was the extra 0.3 inches going to be that much of a hit to justify the likely lower margins seen on a new form factor?” Maurer writes. “Since most are expecting a huge overhaul with the iPhone 8 in 2017, perhaps Apple will go to the large screen then, and perhaps eliminate the 5.5 inch model.”

MacDailyNews Take: As Day One flagship buyers, we would have gone for the “Pro,” but we’ll certainly be happy to use the “iPhone 7 Plus” with its myriad expected improvements over the current flagship iPhone 6s Plus for the next year!

One that can run iOS apps, MacOS applications and the 100 million of Microsoft apps and applications that exist today.

@hilarious…dude you sound like you used to work at CompUSA…everybody knew back then that 98 million out of your 100 million apps were developer junk only used by sales to say how many apps they had to try to get you to buy a PC. Look how long that lasted. Like TV channels, the average Joe uses between 10 and 20 apps regularly at most. You are stuck in the old PC days…and look how far that has got you…soon who will cease to exist?

Despite having 1+ million apps in the apps store, most iOS apps are completely useless.
For years Apple fannies have contended that the Windows app store suffered from a limited number of apps despite the fact that the Windows store has far more useful apps than Apple’s app store!!!!
Their the first I’ve heard of a supposed 5.8″ model. Everything we’ve heard, or seen, has shown two 5.5″ models, one with dual lens, and one with single. It’s easy to claim that a product that was never being made in the first place is being dropped.
To the best of my knowledge, regulatory compliance symbols of the FCC are no longer displayed on the back of iPhones sold in the US, and are not required in other countries. Either Apple, or whoever supplied these images, is lazy.

Pro , its a pointless naming convention if it is not accompanied with a Pro ios!… an operating sys with user managable native file system….
Apple give us iOS-PRO…….charge for it… allow those who need a more robust and controllable operating system to have the option to Upgrade.
Those who dont care can stick to the free version…
I will be 1st in line to get it… and im sure there are millions out there who would love to upgrade….
Expand the capability of ios while creating a new revenue stream…. win win for all !
