“Apple’s macOS Sierra has been on a slower tempo of preview releases than last year’s El Capitan, hinting that the upgrade will launch in October,” Gregg Keizer reports for Computerworld.
“On Monday, Apple issued the sixth Sierra preview — and the third this month — to developers. Last year, Apple shipped the sixth beta of El Capitan on Aug. 3. Throughout July and August, each Sierra preview appeared between 10 and 15 days after the corresponding El Capitan beta of 2015,” Keizer reports. “The average lag was 12 days.”
“If Apple follows a schedule similar to last year’s — when it released the El Capitan upgrade on September 30 — Sierra’s slower beta cadence signals a launch the week of October 9-15,” Keizer reports. “That would roughly match the release schedule of Yosemite, El Capitan’s predecessor: Yosemite hit the Mac App Store on Oct. 16, 2014.”

It’s already VERY solid. Apple could release it tomorrow, with the current “beta” version, and it would be fine.
I’ve eased into using it full time. No problems. Some people are going to want to think before turning on iCloud Drive desktop though. Depending on what you are inclined to throw on top of your desktop, it could eat up quite a bit of bandwidth.
I’ve noticed the same thing, it’s very stable so far. There’s only been one problem with a USB 3 card in some of our older 2012 Mac Pro’s, but sonnet said they’ll have the drivers fixed soon so there’s really not much that doesn’t work right. Hopefully we can deploy it company wide when it’s released. With the parallels update yesterday, we don’t have any incompatible software.
So I guess we’ll get new hardware at the same time.
