Apple rehires Flipboard co-founder Evan Doll to develop health software

“Apple Inc. has hired Flipboard co-Founder Evan Doll to help the world’s largest publicly trading technology company develop more health-related software, according to Doll’s LinkedIn profile,” Alex Webb reports for Bloomberg. “Doll became a director of health software engineering at Apple last month, according to LinkedIn, which doesn’t expand further on his role.”

“During his previous stint at Apple, from about 2003 to 2009, the software engineer helped develop the iPhone operating system,” Webb reports. “He left to found digital news magazine app Flipboard with Mike McCue.”

“When Apple unveiled its News service in June 2015, it was compared to Flipboard’s offering and the startup took it as a competitive move,” Webb reports. “Doll left Flipboard in September, part of an exodus of executives and other talent from the struggling company.”

  1. Met with a doctor yesterday and he showed me an app on an iPhone which shows cardiac and pulse rate real time running charts along with PO2 & blood pressure: no extra wires or sensors!

    It is hard to believe, but I saw it work. Supposedly will be out with the next iPhone release, but as always, YMMV. FDA gets involved with things like this.

    It is incredible that we have progressed this far since Jan 07.
