Apple Store in Manhattan’s World Trade Center Oculus to celebrate grand opening on Tuesday August 16th

“Apple has announced an August 16th grand opening date for its new retail store located within the World Trade Center complex in Lower Manhattan,” Daniel Eran Dilger reports for AppleInsider.

“First confirmed over two years ago, the new WTC Apple Store is located within the dramatic, $4 billion Oculus structure designed by Santiago Calatrava,” Dilger reports. “The building serves as retail mall and an extravagant connection between the underground station for PATH trains arriving from New Jersey and the local New York City subways.”

“Apple—along with other retailers—also reportedly took issue with some of the design elements of the building, including the rib-like columns that extend into the retail space of tenants within the mall, obscuring windows and signage,” Dilger reports. “However, Apple has a deep affection for locating its retail stores in prime locations, often within dramatic, historic or otherwise spectacular or noteworthy buildings.”

  1. Certainly a phenomenal store in a historic location. My best to success!

My only quibble — why not open it on the weekend?

The blue collar working class and the rest of the VAST flyover nation would be better positioned to travel and plan for the opening on a day off.

I can’t make it for those very reasons.

I could be wrong, but I don’t think they thought this through to include everyone, sorry. 🌞
