One of Apple’s carrier partners seems to have just leaked the blue iPhone 7

“Details surrounding Apple’s new iPhones always leak out well ahead of their official unveiling,” Zach Epstein reports for BGR. “Typically, the leaks and rumors originate from bloggers, reporters or China-based gadget leakers. But on Tuesday, one of Apple’s official wireless carrier partners decided to get in on the action with a fresh leak of its own.”

“It’s not every day you see one of the companies Apple partners with jump on the rumor train,” Epstein reports, “but that’s exactly what happened on Tuesday when official iPhone carrier China Unicom posted a teaser image [via TechOrz] that may confirm some key details surrounding Apple’s upcoming iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.”

“First of all, it looks like China Unicom is saying that Apple’s next-gen handsets will be called iPhone 7,” Epstein reports. “Also shown in the image is a dual camera setup, which was believed to be coming on the iPhone 7 Plus or iPhone 7 Pro, whichever name Apple chooses. Finally, the background of the image includes four panels that mirror Apple’s iPhone colors [including blue].”

MacDailyNews Take: If the blue iPhone exists and it has a black face, there’s our iPhone choice for this year. If not, it’ll be Space Gray for us again. We tried it once and that’s all it took: We’re not staring at a white-faced iPhone all year ever again!

So, if it exists, what name will Apple marketing bestow upon the blue? Cobalt Blue? Stone Blue? Steel Blue? Midnight Blue? Sapphire Blue?

One thing’s for sure: It won’t be called “Azure.”

  1. Who cares what the backside of the phone looks lik e- they are get covered in bulky cases.

It’s lazy for apple and others to design these phones and play up the look and color when they need to be put in a case.

How about this, design a phone rugged enough that we don;t need a case. Surely with the profit margins what they are this could be done.

  2. Not sure why Apple doesn’t offer the Silver model with a black face, especially considering the Gold and Rose Gold choices both come with white.

I don’t want white bezels, so I’m stuck with Space Gray unless Apple proves other options.
