“It’s 2016, and Apple’s mysterious, oft-buzzed about car project is still tucked away under the ‘ideas that may or may not happen in this lifetime’ section of the company’s filing cabinet,” Sophie Kleeman writes for Gizmodo.
“Despite a powerful rumor mill—former Apple board member Mickey Drexler once claimed it was Steve Jobs’ ‘dream’ to make an iCar, and reports have repeatedly materialized over the years that Apple was in various stages of building its own vehicle — we’re still waiting, and the will-they-or-won’t-they nature of the project has us asking if we’ll ever see the vehicular version of Sasquatch,” Kleeman writes. “But a handful of recent reports featuring big-name hires and new plans have nudged the car rumors back into view, and now we’re yet again left wondering what the hell Apple is up to.”
Kleeman asks, “So, what’s really going on with the mythical Apple car?”

Oh, my. It seems with every passing day that Apple Car is becoming less and less a reality. I can believe Apple designing AutoOS, but building an actual automobile solo. Please, don’t make me laugh. Apple can’t produce a Mac without vintage technology, sells an out of date Cinema Display, and lost iPhones’s market share.

I’d so much like to create an analytical summary of Apple’s adventures in making an iCar. But this is rumor. Analysis is pointless. Predictions are out in the cosmos.

Bullcrap! Perhaps if you consider only YoY percentage decline – a comparison to a blowout year of upgrades. However, f you consider unit sales and profits and such, Apple did quite well. I am tired of the doom and gloom. Apple is doing well and I, for one, am not ready to extrapolate one unfavorable annual comparison into a disastrous downwards trend.
Relax folks. If you own AAPL and are worried, then go ahead and sell it and find an investment that does not keep you from sleeping at night. Otherwise, ignore the FUD and churn guys and rely on your own judgment regarding Apple’s health and future.
On the flip side, Samsung is lauded as killing Apple again with double digit YoY growth after having an abysmal 2015.
