Second public betas of iOS 10 and macOS Sierra deliver big bug fixes along with new features

“Apple has released Public Beta 2 for both iOS 10 and macOS Sierra, as both products edge closer to a final release this coming fall.,” Adrian Kingsley-Hughes reports for ZDNet.

“While these releases seem to be primarily bug-fix releases, there are some new features,” Kingsley-Hughes reports. “For example, the latest iOS 10 beta adds an option to unlock your device and go to the Home screen by just resting your finger on the Touch ID sensor.”

“New in the Public Beta 2 of macOS Sierra is iCloud file syncing, which automatically syncs your Desktop and Documents folder into the cloud,” Kingsley-Hughes reports. “Also present is the ability to unlock your Mac using an Apple Watch running watchOS 3.”

  1. Sir, can you please log into your computer so I can see if you are thinking unauthorized thoughts? Oh, thanks, never mind, I see your watch did that for me. Thanks for complying and for your passive cooperation.

  2. The new unlock feature mentioned in the source article is at:

    Settings->General->Accessibility->Home Button->Rest Finger to Open.

    This is a significant improvement over the awkward new ‘scan to unlock’ then ‘push to open’ functionality of Touch ID and the Home button.

    1. That was reaaaaaallly starting to drive me absolutely insane. Thanks! Didn’t know they now make you enable accessibility settings to prevent them from taking away useful features and friendly usability in new releases. Ridiculous they even did that. On should be the default.
