Apple releases macOS Sierra public beta

“If you can’t wait to see how Siri works on Apple’s upcoming desktop platform, head over to beta.apple.com,” Mariella Moon reports for Engadget. “Cupertino has just released the public beta of macOS Sierra, and you can download it today from the company’s website.”

“Besides Siri, it also introduces a picture-in-picture mode for iTunes and Safari, a universal clipboard for macOS and iOS, a more feature-rich messaging app and a redesigned iTunes,” Moon reports. “Uf you have access to the developer beta of watchOS 3, you can now unlock your computer with an Apple Watch.”

  1. I would not download this version of the beta, it is so buggy as to be virtually useless. Right now it is anything but “snappy”. Apple sent out an update a couple of days ago to developers; the previous version worked fine, but the update has caused all sorts of problems, the Developers’ Forum is filled with reports of instability. I’ve had Finder freeze several times now, and several Apple apps are not working correctly. Unless you’ve got an extra machine you just want to play with I would not recommend installing Sierra right now.
