“Goldman Sachs analyst Heather Bellini today offers up a summary of an investor day held to review trends in virtuality reality and augmented reality, meetings that included presentations from a number of [VR] companies,” Tiernan Ray reports for Barron’s.

Ray reports, “Bellini notes that there was some sense both the price of VR and the sophistication of the gear will have to evolve till it reaches Apple-like levels of refinement.”

    1. I just got my Oculus Rift and its incredible. Though it will be 10x better when the Touch controls come out.

But their is no deep UI design for completely ditching a desktop screen and working/playing exclusively in VR. I expect Apple is working on something with that kind of depth. Multiple apps, windows, dock, clipboard, notifications, file/doc organization, work spaces, messaging, conferencing, etc.

That’s when VR will come into its own.

  1. Well.. In my view its up to Apple to bring it to that level … Not others.
And VR is nothing new to Apple. They have been at it for at least a decade and more. …(from job listings i have followed )

I hope they are prioritizing VR/AR as Apple needs to excite the world with something new, exciting , and accessable.

    1. I think you are correct, apple has been researching it for at least a decade. But like the iPhone (which they prototyped 10 years before it was released and shelved the product because, the technology wasn’t up to the task. I think they will enter the market when they can create a rock solid product that is up to the standards that we all expect (i.e. doesn’t require liquid nitrogen cooling 😉 )
