“A Cairns mother has saved the life of her baby girl with the help of an unlikely hero – Siri, the iPhone voice-activated computer program,” Djuro Sen reports for Yahoo7 News.
“Stacey Gleeson saw on the baby monitor that her daughter had turned blue and discovered that one-year-old Giana had stopped breathing,” Sen reports. “‘I picked her up and sat down with her on the floor and as I checked her airways… I looked over and remembered my phone,’ Mrs Gleeson told 7 News.”

“In a panic, she had dropped her iPhone but thankfully remembered its voice activation function. ‘Hey Siri, call the ambulance,’” she yelled, prompting her mobile to automatically dial for help. ‘And then before I knew it the ambulance was on its way and Giana was breathing again,'” Sen reports. “Mr Gleeson, who is often away on duty with the Navy, said the few seconds of time saved could have made all the difference. ‘It might have given the precious moments Stacey needed to revive Giana,’ he said.”
“The parents of a now happy and healthy Giana are urging others to activate Siri on their phones,” Sen reports. “‘It’s helped save our daughter’s life and I never thought I’d have to go through something like that,’ Mrs Gleeson added.”

Oh, must have been a 6s or something. Maybe a six, if it were plugged into power. And how many Android people remember Google? “hey google!” … nothing. “Hello Google!” … nothing. *looks up hey google* nothing. Oh, it’s okay google. That’s inconvenient. Lol, but seriously, Apple just has to make Siri smarter, and she’ll be pretty much perfect. Hey Siri is just about the smartest activate phrase ever made.
Please encourage Apple to implement an automatic location service anytime anyone calls emergency services on the iPhone. In the US, 911 often cannot find the location of someone who needs help, and phones have location built into them and you can even use this to order a pizza, but 911 cannot use this and people’s lives are at stake.
While we wait for the very slow process of cell phone networks to come into the modern era, encourage Apple to get their iPhones to automatically give location services to 911.

Hmm. What would have happened if emergency teams failed to arrive on site in time to save the child? Would Siri coach the mother how to provide CPR?

Precisely. Siri does nothing Siri is not told to do. Siri is not a senescent being. Siri doesn’t do anything unless a human acts first.
