“This week Apple was granted two 3D Depth mapping patents,” Jack Purcher reports for patently Apple.
“The first covered a specialized 3D mapping processor and the second covered using 3D mapping to accurately handle in-air gesturing,” Purcher reports. “Today, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office published a patent application from Apple that reveals new methods and devices for projection and capture of optical radiation, and particularly to compact optical scanners. This technology will at some point support Apple’s upcoming dual lens cameras coming to the iPhone, iPad and possibly Macs.”
“Apple acquired facial recognition company Perceptio last October, followed by the news that they likely acquired Faceshift last November and then Emotient in January of this year,” Purcher reports. “And today a patent application from Apple on facial recognition titled ‘Personal Computing Device Control Using Face Detection and Recognition’ surfaced.”

I use PowerDirector 13 on a quad core Mac Mini, running Windows 7. It let’s you burn your own 3D Blu-ray movies to a Blu-ray burner. They then could be watched using a XboxOne, PS4, Ps3, or 3D Blu-ray player. The results are GREAT! Now that Apple will have a 3D i-Phone, it looks like they will have 3D editing software ?????
