“Apple Music now has more than 11 million paid subscribers,” Christina Warren reports for Mashable.

“Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services, shared the figure during the latest episode of John Gruber’s podcast, The Talk Show,” Warren reports. “Gruber was joined by Cue and Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of software engineering.”

“Cue revealed that Apple Music had passed 11 million subscribers,” Warren reports. “This is impressive when you consider that Apple Music formally launched at the end of June alongside a three-month free trial.”

MacDailyNews Take: The level of impressiveness depends on your perspective. Apple Music launched in over 100 countries. That’s an average of fewer than 110,000 subscribers per country since last June.

Maybe there just aren’t that many true music lovers out there? It seems like most people are happy enough to be music dabblers for the price of free, even among well-heeled Apple users.
