“Last week we reported that Apple is preparing to announce a new 4-inch iPhone dubbed the ‘iPhone 5se’ as soon as mid-March,” Mark Gurman reports for 9to5Mac. “Our report noted that the new iPhone is essentially an upgraded iPhone 5s with a faster processor, Apple Pay, new camera features, and curved glass edges instead of sharp chamfers. Now, we have a few additional details about this new iPhone model.”
“We’ve now learned that the iPhone 5se is more likely to include variants of the A9 and M9 chips instead of the A8 and M8 lines,” Gurman reports. “[A] benefit of the M9 chip from the iPhone 6s is always-on Siri activation.”
“While the new device will likely start at a 16GB capacity to match the 5s, the secondary, higher capacity is said to be doubled from 32GB to 64GB,” Gurman reports. “The iPhone 5s from 2013 will be discontinued upon the release of the new 5se and we are told that the price points of the 5s will be assumed by the new model.”

dumb .. no one is going back from a 6 to a 5 .. I would love the smaller size but this makes no sense … I love Apple but it is not the same anymore. The stuff used to ‘just work’, not they have become Redmond. A real shame for many of us.
I’m not going back from a 6. I use a 5s. Will continue to use it until there is another 4″ iPhone.
Not to mention there are huge numbers of 5s users that are at 2 years or 1 year contracts right now.

Your complaint is meaningless. What is it to you that Apple offers a smaller phone? If it’s not to your liking, don’t buy it becaues they also make plenty of larger phones. Which all work, by the way.
I’m in despite owning a 6s.
Many of us have been sticking with our iPhone 5 because we dislike the larger form factor of the iPhone 6. This will be my next phone. I know I’m not alone.
Just speculating and wondering if the new 4″ phone will be made in India to avoid their import tax?
I just hope Apple would release a 4″ phone in which they show us what they really can do and not just a hash of bits put together under the direction of the Sales & Marketing department.
….. to meet some daft price point.
