“Just over a week after Samsung paid Apple more than $548 million for infringing the patents and designs of the iPhone, Apple has asked a U.S. court to force its biggest smartphone rival to cough up even more,” Andrew Chung reports for Reuters.
“In court papers filed on Wednesday, Apple Inc. said Samsung Electronics Co Ltd. owes nearly $180 million in supplemental damages and interest,” Chung reports. “These further damages relate to five Samsung devices that infringed Apple’s patents and were sold after a 2012 jury verdict finding Samsung liable in the dispute.”
“In a case that has come to epitomize the global smartphone war, Apple and Samsung have more battles ahead,” Chung reports. “Another trial over remaining damages related to the appeals court decision is set to go ahead next March in San Jose, California federal court.”

MacDailyNews Take: Happy holidays, Samsung!
Hey, without Apple, how many so-called smartphones would Samsung have sold?
Scum sung its last song before the finale which will be the supreme court’s ax.
Burn sammy burn, you’ll never be anything but a thief.
SamStupid needs to pay Apple 10x if not more. Blatantly copying Apple generated Billions for that disgusting company.
Give it up. pay your settlement. Apple, quit whining. Samsung didn’t materially cost you this much in damages.
It sure as hell did. Much more in fact.
Yeah and what about legal costs? Hopefully these are included. These proceedings shouldn’t cost Apple a thin dime (even though they can easily afford it). Thieves need to pony up completely for their misdeeds.
