“According to a new rumor originating from sources in China, Apple is currently experimenting with at least five different iPhone 7 models, each with its own unique hardware characteristics,” Mihai Matei reports for G for Games. “By the sound of it Apple is trying to figure out which technologies would go best in the upcoming model, all the while keeping an eye on the performance of its suppliers.”
“Reportedly, some of the technologies that can be found in these prototypes include a USB Type-C connector compatible with headsets, wireless charging technology, multi-Force Touch, dual camera configurations, and fingerprint recognition technology embedded within the display,” Matei reports. “Apple has yet to decide which technologies will make the cut on the next model so assuming that these prototypes are real, then they could become the source of contradicting rumors.”

Haha these rumors get wackier and wackier every year. Btw, iPhones don’t have Force Touch, they have 3D Touch and no it’s not the same thing.
Having read all those people originally on launch claiming it wasn’t 3D it was just some form of extended or whatever version of 2D I’m not sure I really care any more. Life is just too short.
When Apple develops a new device, they build a lot more than five configurations. That’s what the EVT and DVT builds are for.

Let me get this straight…they’re trying five “different” models and each model is unique? Thank you Captain Obvious.
I would bloody well hope so, probably more than 5. That’s what they pay designers and do R&D for. Jonny Ive doesn’t just sit down one day sketch a design and then they build it.

If true and Apple has not decided yet (which sounds implausible to me this far out) then we may be seeing the next iPhone release well past September of next year.
I’d rather see cleaner software than more thin, flashy hardware. The future of computing devices is software, and Apple needs to understand that. No matter how sexy an iPhone looks, feels, sounds or smells, if it has problems, users will no, spread the word, and then…
And then… what? They’ll buy an Androcrap phone instead? Good one!
There’ll always be some problems. No company can be 100% perfect. Especially with people making mountains out of molehills.
