“When Apple first unveiled iPad Pro, it noted that its custom designed A9X chip would be faster than 80 percent of the PCs that shipped this year. Benchmarks indicate that it’s not just faster than low end generic PCs, but also faster — and less expensive — than Microsoft’s Surface Pro 4,” Daniel Eran Dilger reports for AppleInsider.
“Apple sells one basic model of iPad Pro, with different storage and cellular capacities, starting at $799. Microsoft’s Surface Pro is offered in three processor tiers, each with different storage options. It starts at $899,” Dilger reports. “However, the $899 model is outfitted with a low end Intel Core m3 processor, which Apple’s custom A9X soundly trumps in both single core and multicore tests, despite the iPad Pro having an extra million and a half more pixels to manage on the screen.”
“In a year or two, Apple’s A-series chips may even be suitable for use in Macs,” Dilger reports. “However, if Apple can expand its iPad sales into new markets, it may not even have to bother to transition its Macs to ARM, given that iPad sales volumes have already made the company the largest producer of computers worldwide, and by far the most profitable.”

MacDailyNews Take: Microsoft’s Surface Pro 4, trying to run full-blown Windoze, shows how little beleaguered Microsoft have learned from Apple even with over half a decade during which to study iPad.
Microsoft is staffed with stupid and/or lazy people. There’s no other explanation besides crippling narcissism – which is a very real possibility… All Microsoft’s Surface “team” had to do was buy some real iPads and use them for a few weeks… Microsoft was shown the way and, once again, they failed to properly follow Apple’s lead. By now, that’s just stupid and/or lazy.
Microsoft suffers from delusions of grandeur. They think they matter and that people will buy their pretend iPad over other pretend iPads because it’s from Microsoft. Microsoft does not matter. Microsoft no longer has the power to sell superfluous products. The world already has iPad. The thinking world finally woke up and moved on from Microsoft’s soul-sapping dreck. That clueless Microsoft haven’t figured this out years ago (Zune, Kin, how many total face-plants do they need?) is illustrative of the depths of their delusions.

This article is such BS. What tests is he referring to? And the Surface is available in an i7, which spanks the iPad Pro’s CPU.
Also, iPad Pro runs a blown up iPod Touch mickey mouse operating system and bubble gum apps. Not capable of running desktop apps or doing any real multi-tasking.

(Anyone remember the huge controversy way back when Apple was benchmarking the Motorola RISC CPUs vs Intel’s x86 CISC CPUs? How everyone argued you couldn’t do proper benchmarking because it was apples and oranges? What goes round, comes around).
It may run OSX in a few years, but the giant iPad does not run it now, and there is not a single reason to buy this exorbitantly priced iPad, especially if you already have an Air 2 like myself.
The Surface line is a no go also, because it runs the first all spyware OS… Windows 10.

Tim Cook has ruined Apple’s worldwide political reputation, it’s software QA reputation, and it reputation for making stellar products that just work.
Their new slogan should be: “We demand you accept the gay lifestyle or else; and our product may work after suffering through glitches and updates.”
I’ve got a an iPad Air but I’m switching to the iPad Pro. The speed, the larger display and especially the high precision Pencil made it an easy decision.

MDN hijacked the headline too. Nobody’s a bigger Apple fanboy than Daniel Erin Dilger, but his own headline at AppleInsider didn’t say “beleaguered Microsoft.”
The Beleaguered label is a hammer of irony, of moral retribution administered with gusto by MDN on behalf of the tribes of long-suffering Apple faithful, against cruel Pharaohs who would crush the rose petal underfoot. Only now do we scent sweet justice and if that is juvenile, so be it.

Sorry, OS X runs on Ax chips right now. The iOS codebase is OS X, but if you mean the full enchilada, I’d be willing to bet that the full meal deal OS X runs on Ax chips right now! It just happens in a secret vault somewhere in Cupertino.
Apple will not switch Macs to Ax chips until Macs infiltrate business at 40% or more. The ability to run Windows is still too crucial for the Macs success in business. iCal me.
Microsoft has a lot of skill on its payroll; it also has a lot of delusional hubris. It appears Nadella started down a road to reduce the hubris; however, it appears his personal amount of delusion is increasing simultaneously.
I suspect Microsoft is so bloated that it will have to severely crash before stabilizing. Much like IBM before it. And undoubtedly like Apple will at some point in the future, however near or distant that may be. Belief in infallibility is an incredibly slippery slope.

Took my Toyota into the dealer for maintenance a couple weeks ago and in the area where you drop off the car there are 8 or 10 small offices where the check-in/check-out folks work. They have a desk, chair, a 24″ computer screen, keyboard and mouse. It looked funny this last time. There wasn’t a big box sitting under the monitor. Under the desk was a Surface-something (not sure which) all tied into the dealers network. It was cool. Wish my iPad had some ports on it.
Could someone post a shot of the massive line of people wanting to buy this device?
