“Apple CEO Tim Cook has hinted that the company may one day built a medical device, following the success of the Apple Watch and iPhone as medical tools,” TechRadar reports.
“Such a move would perhaps not be surprising. Earlier this year Cupertino launched ResearchKit, a new framework to help scientists and researchers build apps that can collect data using Apple’s devices for use in medical trials,” TechRadar reports. “A few weeks ago it revealed some of the first successes. This included an app that can detect early signs of autism by monitoring the responses of kids to videos shown on screen, and an app for users to take photos of moles, so that scientists can learn how to better spot the early signs of melanoma.”
“These are encouraging first signs that technology is improving how we approach medicine,” TechRadar reports. “So perhaps a fully-fledged medical device from Apple could be just what the doctor ordered.”

We don’t want to put the watch through the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) process. I wouldn’t mind putting something adjacent to the watch through it, but not the watch, because it would hold us back from innovating too much, the cycles are too long. I would like a companion device I wear at night. No screen, simple. Communicates with my iPhone and Watch while sleeping. While my Watch is charging, I wear it. Tracks my sleep and movements. Maybe my heart rate.
I think other companies are already developing “smart bands” for the Apple Watch.
And you wonder why some people have to watch every-single-word they say. 😶
I wonder if it will be released with unfinished software too?
As long as it comes in rose gold and has haptic feedback, it should prove to be popular.
As I have said over the last few years, most humans will eventually wear health type bands, especially when these devices can cure disease via frequencies, etc. Google has recently patented aspects of this tech:

It will be interesting to see how Apple plans to compete. This market will eventually be larger than smartphones are today.
This is going to be so Borg like, oh no wait it’s Apple and under Tim Cook’s leadership it will be great.
