“A new set of images have emerged that claim to show official components from Apple’s next-generation iPhone,” Paul Morris reports for Redmond Pie.
“The leaked set of images give us not only the first glance at some of the parts, but also a more detailed look at the purported internals of Apple’s iPhone 6s that’s supposedly set for a September release,” Morris reports. “The leaked components also answer a few questions about the iPhone 6s camera setup. It looks as though the next iPhone will continue with the same metal ring casing and protrude from the back of the case, contrary to earlier beliefs owing to a slightly thickened casing for the phone.”
“The device is still expected to ship with two screen size choices, both of which will likely have 12-megapixel camera offerings and a much improved Apple A9 processor. A more responsive Touch ID sensor is likely to be integrated into the device’s home button with the inclusion of Force Touch within the multi-touch display. Speculation also suggests that both devices will ship with 2GB of RAM to compliment the A9 processor.”

MacDailyNews Take: You just know that that protruding lens bugs the everliving you-know-what out of Jony! In an Apple leather case, though, it doesn’t protrude, so we can live with it, especially seeing the image quality it produces.
I thought the protruding lens would be a deal-breaker for me, but with a case it’s not an issue. The phone is so thin you really do need (and don’t suffer from) using it in a case.
i’ve never put my iphones in a case. kinda ruins it if you ask me.
Even without the case, on the 6 plus, it doesn’t bug me at all. That kind of surprised me, so did the image quality. 👍🏼
I don’t think it’s bugging Jony. Apple rarely just does things unless there’s a plan for them:

My Incipio Stowaway (advanced) iPhone 6 Plus case eliminates the protruding camera-gate challenge.😃
Ewwww yuck. Tim “The Steward” Cook’s Apple keeps laying turds. Time for the board to fire him and Ive.
No problemo on my 6 Plus with a Speck Candyshell; great combination.
I want to use a Ceramic Bumper. Is there such a thing? Metal can cause signal issues and I hate plastic bumpers.
FYI – The lens also protrudes from the ultra-thin new A8 iPod touch. It now seems to be the norm (not the exception) for the camera to protrude a bit from the casing.
Of course it does because the new iPod touch was not redesigned, just like we won’t get a redesign of the iPhone until next year.
My concern now is whether my Moment external lenses would be compatible. This might force Moment to redesign their adhesive mounting base. I could handle that but complete incompatibility with the new phone would be a deal-breaker for me. I love these lenses.
The leather case is not only beautiful, it solves the camera issue perfectly.
It’s been squared. Bigger lens?
