Apple releases iOS 8.4 with Apple Music

“As promised, Apple has just released the iOS 8.4 software update featuring an all-new Music app for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch to the public after testing with developers since mid-April,” Zac Hall reports for 9to5Mac. “While it includes smaller changes throughout, the update primarily delivers an overhauled Music app with Apple Music (notice the new icon), its brand new subscription music streaming service, and Beats 1, its 24/7 live radio station that launches today.”

“The iOS 8.4 release is available as an OTA software update within the Settings app on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, or through iTunes for devices with limited storage availability,” Hall reports.

  1. Downloaded and installing on iPhone & iPod Touch as I write this. Was unable to contact Apple servers with iTunes but didn’t take long to download over wi-fi on the devices.

    Am so excited 🙂 🙂 🙂

  2. iTunes for Mac requires iTunes 12.2 for Apple music. I received a dialog box telling me this info when I tried to open the Trail Apple Music from the Apple website. Mac App store is not posting and iTunes app up date. Also the iTunes web site download link is still 12.1.2.

    1. I’m able to update my iPhone 6 Plus to iOS 8.4 with the iTunes 12.1.2 on my 2008 Mac Pro running 10.10.4 now. Doing it old school tethered to the Mac to make sure I get a perfect update. Hoping this will fix an intermittent crash problem I’ve had since 8.3.

Activated Apple Music on my iPad Air 2 which I WiFi updated. Gotta admit being able to play stuff I haven’t bought is pretty cool.

        1. I’m AirPlaying a new album from my 8.4 iPad Air 2 to my tv. Very cool. I just with some labels hadn’t opted out of Apple Music – withholding new albums while letting us play old ones.😔

  3. not very happy that I have to create playlists in order to play songs on shuffle, same thing with genres, artists and songs. This is a huge fail in my opinion. I am glad I hung on to my Gen 4 iPod this makes having a 128gb phone useless if I cannot play my music the way I wish.

  4. Not a good deal, in order to use Apple Music on your mac you need 12.2 itunes for the mac. Only problem is it was not included in the upgrade nor is it currently available online anywhere. Apple says it should be released within 24 hours. The ability to save songs for later listening is not working on an iphone. Everything except playing songs seems to be broke

  5. What an absolute pile of horse shit. Nonstop recommendations from Kelly Clarkson, Rihanna, and no way to permanently remove these disgusting artist. Absolute Fisher-Price quality crap

  6. Hooray, as they say this new update is snappy indeed. I particularly like that Safari on this iPad mini with its A5 processor is no longer the completely unusable, ridiculously slow the dog that it was prior to today’s update .
