“As promised, Apple has just released the iOS 8.4 software update featuring an all-new Music app for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch to the public after testing with developers since mid-April,” Zac Hall reports for 9to5Mac. “While it includes smaller changes throughout, the update primarily delivers an overhauled Music app with Apple Music (notice the new icon), its brand new subscription music streaming service, and Beats 1, its 24/7 live radio station that launches today.”
“The iOS 8.4 release is available as an OTA software update within the Settings app on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, or through iTunes for devices with limited storage availability,” Hall reports.

My crash testing iPad mini just downloaded and installed 8.4 in 16 minutes from beginning to end…..
Working fine for me………………
GLTA!!
Downloaded and installing on iPhone & iPod Touch as I write this. Was unable to contact Apple servers with iTunes but didn’t take long to download over wi-fi on the devices.
Am so excited 🙂 🙂 🙂
Where’s Music App for Mac OSX? 🙁
I think it’s inside iTunes for OS X isn’t it?
Will it stop my iPad Air 2 from randomly rebooting every half-hour?
Interest you mention that. I’ve had a similar problem with my iPad Air 2 (32gb) to a lesser extent, and occasionally with my iPhone 6
Downloaded in less than 20 minutes. Signed up to Family plan. Listening to Zane-Lowe Now.
Always ON!!
iTunes for Mac requires iTunes 12.2 for Apple music. I received a dialog box telling me this info when I tried to open the Trail Apple Music from the Apple website. Mac App store is not posting and iTunes app up date. Also the iTunes web site download link is still 12.1.2.
I’m able to update my iPhone 6 Plus to iOS 8.4 with the iTunes 12.1.2 on my 2008 Mac Pro running 10.10.4 now. Doing it old school tethered to the Mac to make sure I get a perfect update. Hoping this will fix an intermittent crash problem I’ve had since 8.3.
Activated Apple Music on my iPad Air 2 which I WiFi updated. Gotta admit being able to play stuff I haven’t bought is pretty cool.
I was referring to playing Apple music from iTunes on the Mac. Not updating the iPhone.
Ive updated OS X on my mac and there’s no Apple Music app!
But a new album I was expecting to be able to play is not in Apple Music although it’s still for sale in iTunes. The Apple Music Top 150 list is different than the iTunes Store top 150 list.😳
I’m AirPlaying a new album from my 8.4 iPad Air 2 to my tv. Very cool. I just with some labels hadn’t opted out of Apple Music – withholding new albums while letting us play old ones.😔
Adding an album to a playlist and Make Available Offline don’t seem to be working. Notably, Apple Music album additions don’t appear in my third part Radsone LTS music player.
not very happy that I have to create playlists in order to play songs on shuffle, same thing with genres, artists and songs. This is a huge fail in my opinion. I am glad I hung on to my Gen 4 iPod this makes having a 128gb phone useless if I cannot play my music the way I wish.
Now there’s a first world problem for you.
What a douche of a response.
Not a good deal, in order to use Apple Music on your mac you need 12.2 itunes for the mac. Only problem is it was not included in the upgrade nor is it currently available online anywhere. Apple says it should be released within 24 hours. The ability to save songs for later listening is not working on an iphone. Everything except playing songs seems to be broke
No offline listening?
We’ll the option is there, but when invoked nothing appears to download.😟
Offline is working for me now.
What an absolute pile of horse shit. Nonstop recommendations from Kelly Clarkson, Rihanna, and no way to permanently remove these disgusting artist. Absolute Fisher-Price quality crap
Yes the radio station is as I predicted, very lame with DJs talking way too much. I think radio DJs should play songs not talk.
Hooray, as they say this new update is snappy indeed. I particularly like that Safari on this iPad mini with its A5 processor is no longer the completely unusable, ridiculously slow the dog that it was prior to today’s update .
Yes, the update also appears to have fixed my intermittent crashing bug in 8.3. So far anyway.☺️
Went from 119.21GB capacity to 114.21GB on my iPad. At this rate I’m going to have to go back to Winbloat.
