“Apple has made significant improvement to Siri particularly in terms of overall integration and predictive contextual artificial intelligence,” Jonny Evans writes for Computerworld.
“The new Siri is now an even more effective alternative search engine, a step that erodes Google market share, particularly as the world goes mobile and much of the meat of Google revenue remains rooted in contextual ads on websites,” Evans writes. “This is slow death by a thousand cuts for Google ads revenue. Can Google really make up for this lost income by making all the data it collects about its users (you and me) available for sale?”
“Will Google become Apple’s next lunch?” Evans writes. “Not likely, but Apple does appear to be building an alternative to the Google-branded ‘Internet Experience.'”

Ah I don’t bite willies. Biting the heads off trolls so we can have a civilized Apple discussion is a story for another day.
you’re not losing your sense of humor now are you? 😉
Google can pay Apple all they want for the default search position – there is ZERO chance that I will not change the search engine to DDG as my first act. NEVER use Google!
It has been demonstrated time and again that Apple users will pay a little more for a quality user experience and hardware. Given the choice of paying a little money for services with privacy or paying with personal data for services with google, I believe many many Apple users will choose the former. This bodes poorly for google in the long run as Apple brings these services online. The big hammer will be search…
Glaciers would move faster than Apple when it comes to a comprehensive plan.
winter is coming…
Tetrachloride, glaciers may move slow, but when they arrive they take over the landscape completely. That is what Apple is slowly doing.
Apple might be moving now, but —
1. it is slow
2. the plan is not comprehensive by any known sign
3. there’s no denying that Apple did nothing for many years in some aspects. Third party apps from 10 years ago have strong features which Apple does not offer. Little Snitch comes to mind.
Apple moves slow and steady and thinks differently…Always.
Slogans and RDF does not help.
Firefox for example was long ahead of Safari and is competitive in spite of its UI.
For people who know assembler code for ports, they can name at least 20 categories of problems to always be watched. Apple did well on some of those categories. Other categories ? The barn door has been open for decades.
You should take bob with you on your way out.
As most others do little but follow in their wake in such matters it still puts Apple way out in front, indeed they are the only ones with a comprehensive plan.
Any forensic data person can dissect the basics with their eyes closed. Some parts are done well, and getting better such as Apple Pay. I leave the rest as an exercise for the students among us to figure out some more. Maybe they can find one that I have not.
