The public has spoken! After an outpour of public interest, a heated race, culminating with many nominees publicly promoting their position, Madame Tussauds announced Steve Wozniak, cofounder of Apple Computer and American Inventor was voted as the next Bay Area’s “Tech Innovator.”
64 year-old San Jose native, Steve Wozniak, is a Silicon Valley icon and household name for his strides in changing the face of Technology. Through his innovative and influential work with Steve Jobs in founding Apple, and various philanthropic ventures, Wozniak was inducted into the Inventors Hall of Fame and was awarded the prestigious Heinz Award for Technology in 2000 among other outstanding achievement awards throughout his career.
“I am incredibly excited to be inducted into the Madame Tussauds family. I remember visiting the London Museum as a kid, and how cool it was to see Mark Knopfler’s figure in wax,” said Wozniak in a statement. “I can’t wait to see my figure next to Jobs – it’ll be just like old times.”
The process will begin with Wozniak sitting with a team of Madame Tussauds master sculptors. The sitting takes between 2-3 hours, where more than 250 measurements are taken. The sculpting process takes between 3-4 months for completion.
Wozniak’s figure will be revealed to the public with a side-by-side release sometime in the Fall of 2015. Wozniak will have a permanent position along Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg in Madame Tussauds Fisherman’s Wharf location.

Good, he deserves it, probably more than Job does (not to say Jobs doesn’t deserve one, but he might have been just another ex-hippie without the engineering genius of The Woz).
I wonder what SJ would have done if he had not started working with Woz on computers? It is an interesting question…
I completely disagree with your “just another ex-hippie” assessment. Jobs was going to make a difference in the world – somehow, somewhere. He was driven to explore new areas, synthesize different ideas, try new things without fear of failure. Jobs would have kept trying until he found something to change for the better. Who knows what the world would be like today?
Ask yourself what your would have done if you were Steve Jobs in the mid-1980s, freshly kicked out of Apple Computer with tens of millions in wealth – set for life, if you decided to shoot the bird at the business world and have a little fun. You know what Jobs did with NeXT and Pixar, and the Apple that we love today is the result.
What would you have done? Take the early road to retirement and a life of leisure? Or change the world (again)?
Wosniak’s Genius for getting less to do more, attention to detail and perfectionism built the products that funded the Apple that made both Steves rich enough to do whatever they wanted. Jobs was just a college dropout with good ideas and an affinity for LSD. He might have made a good music exec.
If Jony designs the figure, they won’t need as much wax! Kidding aside, that’s a fantastic representation of Steve and congrats to Woz.

I wish they had done the figures to show them as they looked in the early successful years rather than older years.
