“Apple fans hoping for an imminent release of the company’s home automation platform, HomeKit, will have to wait,” Stacey Higginbotham reports for Fortune. “Sources participating in the program tell Fortune that the launch date has moved back from an anticipated May or June time-frame to something closer to late August or September.”
“To be clear, Apple has never announced a launch date for HomeKit, but partners had said during this year’s CES, the annual consumer electronics trade show, to expect something in spring,” Higginbotham reports. “That has changed. Sources close to the situation say Apple is planning a smaller announcement around HomeKit in the near term, but not the official launch.”

MacDailyNews Take: Info and developer tools at WWDC in June and shipping products to come later, possibly the same situation as with a revamped Apple TV (although the device itself could always ship with what it offers now plus the prospect of more (App Store, apps, HomeKit support) to come over time).

Good, delay release until the freakin’ thing works correctly. Unlike the Google approach.
I think you meant ‘…Apple approach.’ And also, Apple, just keep your collective mouths’ shut about it until it actually IS ready. Loose lips sink spaceships.
So does this mean there won’t be a new AppleTV until fall?
Yes because the two are directly connected right Bob? Sarcasm not asked for or needed here from the Apple Haters. Every company has the right to reserve the time it takes to get the darn thing right.
Bob you need to learn to read old boy. The article clearly states ““To be clear, Apple has never announced a launch date for HomeKit,….”
It’s a week of desperate trolling. 💤💤
Yes, the Apple Watch is so successful that they can’t stand it. Oh well, bad on them.
Apple better tell the HomeKit compatible OEMs then that are releasing next month according to another article from MDN today. “Apple: First HomeKit accessories coming from partners next month”
How can it be delayed if apple has not announced a date yet?
THANK YOU!😃
“…but partners had said…” is NOT Apple announcing a date . But, of course, we need clickbait hence the article’s headline
If it has internal proposed dates that change then it’s claimable it’s a delay but then we can’t tell between truth of that or the error on the part of those reporting it.
Watch and TV Integration
… Well, I guess I can throw out that ‘HomeKit Is Here’ issue of MacWorld. (#_#))
I realize it never had a firm release date, but why announce it so early. I’m a long time Apple fan, but it’s lost some luster in past few years for me.
