Hands-on with alleged ‘iPad Pro’ case gives shows comparison to Apple’s iPad Air

“Whether or not a new 12-plus-inch iPad becomes an actual product, case makers are betting on leaked design specifications, and a new video offers an idea of just how big a so-called ‘iPad Pro’ might be,” Neil Hughes reports for AppleInsider.

“The comparison of a full-size 9.7-inch iPad Air with the supposed iPad Pro cases was shared by YouTube channel Unbox Therapy on Friday,” Hughes reports. “The cases suggest that Apple’s anticipated larger iPad will sport about the same thickness as the current-generation iPad Air 2.”

Hughes reports, “An enlarged printout of the iPad Air 2 scaled to fit the new cases shows a screen that measures about 12.5 inches diagonally, though rumors have suggested Apple will adopt a 12.9-inch display for the new model.”

MacDailyNews Take: Bring it on!

By the way, a prototype iPad that went up for auction on eBay in 2012, featured dock connecters in both portrait and landscape mode. In addition, Apple patent application illustrations for iPad showed a device with landscape and portrait dock connectors. If this thing is to be targeted to business users, it will most likely require a way for it to be docked in landscape mode, perhaps to an Apple iPad keyboard dock.

  1. All I can say is, first iPhone 6 Plus next iPad Pro! I definitely will be lining up to buy this one, if this proves true. A larger screen iPad is just the thing I’m craving!!!

    1. Or, unless it has like a 3D screen or some other insane feature that’s only possible with this pro version. Who knows what they’ll do. Ideally I would love to see a device like this that behaves like am iPad normally, but concerts to full Mac OS X when you attach a keyboard or even just when you flip it to landscape on the home screen or flip a switch or something. Something like that would be way better than garbage Surface that’s always stuck on their useless hybrid OS.

  2. All I can say is they BETTER not be changing cables AGAIN. I FINALLY have enough lightening cables for everyone in my house, all the cars, and at work. USB-C….oh Hell No!

  3. That size would be great for PDF documents, including full-sized sheet music, and for comic books. Those are two reasons I would want this larger rumored iPad.

At this larger size I would hope to split the screen or even have four equal quadrants for apps. In some ways that would be better than freeform resizable windows (and in some ways not). Having apps that can have different set sizes could be very cool.
