Beyoncé shows off Apple Watch Edition with custom solid gold link bracelet at Coachella

“Today Beyonce posted photos of herself at Coachella wearing the 18-karat Apple Watch Edition and a custom band you can’t buy,” Alex Heath reports for Cult of Mac.

“One of iTunes’ most beloved artists has a solid gold link bracelet for the Watch that Apple doesn’t sell officially,” Heath reports. “And it probably costs more than the Edition itself.”

Heath reports, “Beyonce joins a list of A-listers like Pharrell, Katy Perry, Drake and Sam Smith who were all given an Apple Watch before its April 24th release.”

MacDailyNews Take: Yet another example of Apple Watch marketing that’s so cost-effective, it’s essentially free.

Apple is brilliant. These gorgeous 18-karat gold Apple Watch Editions will begin showing up on the wrists of celebrities, famous athletes, and captains of industry very soon. And they will influence the rest of the world to lust after Apple Watch, too. And, here’s more Apple brilliance, unlike a $51,500 Piaget watch, your average Joe and Jane… will actually be able to partake in the same exact user experience with the Apple Watch and Apple Watch Sport.SteveJack, MacDailyNews, March 9, 2015

  1. Beyoncé has a ridiculously-expensive Apple watch? Of course she does! She makes gazillions of dollars humping a microphone with no clothes on while hoards of screaming 14-year-old girls look on.

  2. Apple certainly learned a thing or two about marketing a fashion item from Ms. Ahrendts, as well as from its acquisition of Beats. Why are Beats headphones the #1 brand of premium headphones? Simply because athletes and celebrities to wear, and lots of product placement in music videos.

The fact that all these A-list celebs are wearing the Apple Watch combined with the extremely constrained supply will make regular people crazy to get their hands on one. Very smart, Apple, very smart.

Smart watches will be ubiquitous in a couple years, and Apple is literally the only company on earth that could have pulled this off.

  3. Glad to see the Queen rockin that Apple GigaBling.* Great way to drive up interest: you thought Apple gear was an “aspirational” brand before…imagine it worn by the biggest stars in the world.

(But too bad none of B’s minions at the Beygency explained that there’s a setting that will rotate the display for everyone who wants to wear the watch on their right wrist. Its much easier to reach the DC and user button if they’re closest to the other hand; so lefties in effect wear the watch “upside-down”.)

*Now let’s play Price Is Right and guess what the watch must be worth based on the gold alone. I’ll start at $50,001.00.

    1. Didn’t know about the left-handed mode. It’s one of the reasons I stopped wearing a watch — was tired of not being able to wind the stem — or change a setting — without contorting myself, or having to take the watch off.

    1. She’s wearing it on her right wrist.

Not having seen an Apple Watch in person I have no idea if it’s possible to wear it any other way and have it functional while wearing it on the right wrist.

  4. Gotta hand it to Apple for excellent promotion.

However it still feels dirty when such rich people receive such expensive items for free. What did the middle class ever get for free? Not even death or taxes. Oh well, back to the grind.
