      1. It is a luxury for sure. The screen is as stunning as everyone describes. It shines most when I stream 4k sample videos from youtube. Lots of interesting visuals there. At moments I really am “stunned” by the sharpness and clarity of the video. I hope that there will be movies like this available for the computer someday.

I’m already pissed because I just found out Netscape won’t let you look at 4K movies on the iMac 5k because of DRM.

Is it important to the work I do? No. Maybe if I were making 4k video for public consumption. I was going to buy a computer anyway, so I just bought the iMac 5k which is like buying a 4K monitor and getting a free computer.

All the other retina stuff is standard. Sharp screen, beautiful typography and so on.

    1. Yup! Do at least one clone (& preferably 2) of your existing boot SSD or HD first. Carbon Copy Cloner is worth its weight in Gold!

HDs are so cheap now days that there is no reason to not be totally safe.

  1. I have family and friends on multiple Mac’s, Macbook pro, Older Mac Pro, Mac Mini, never saw any wi-fi issues.. Did see the multiple shared mac listings, but 10.1 and a router reboot fixed that.. I am sure they are annoying for those that had them, but was never had an issue

  2. Holy shit what was this ?!? I just did the update, and my MacBook Air did not even restart, no indication of it!! But it does show 10.10.2 now in “About this Mac” !!
I had no beta before that.
no probs so far, as before.

    1. Most likely this is an issue on your university’s end, especially as it works at home. School wifi is notoriously bad. There are many reasons for this and many of them can not be fixed because of the nature of the network.

    1. Yes, Mail is still not fixed, and never will be….It has been broken so long and so often, it is absurd. The day that I no longer have to switch between sent and inbox to have the blue dots go away will be a blessing, but it will not happen. The day mail starts sending clean HTML messages and not half baked plain text and html in one message that no other mail client understands will be a blessing, but it will never happen. That is just the Apple way, and that is that.

The day the Mac is a serious alternative on the office workflow without these sorts of of irritations, ALL machines in our office will be Mac. So far, only the people who need a laptop have them, mainly using them for RDP to……Windows…ahhhhhhhh How I hate Windows……

Please Apple, if anyone can, you can! I’ll help……

Other bugs also unsolved, but I have to admit they were not claimed to be solved so I have hopes for .3

        1. Thanks for the tip, but I have tried that. I think it has to do with the Exchange sync. I have set up exchange to the best of my knowledge and do not think that is it, for it doe not connect to exchange to check read because it is instant, just the changing of the view does the trick.

  3. No problems with update. I really like my (unofficial) “Fusion Drive.” I added a 120GB SSD (Intel brand) to my Mac mini a few months ago, and created a 613GB Fusion Drive with the stock 500GB hard drive. Installation of these system updates seem to take much less time than before.

  4. I have had a few Wi-Fi issues in the past but not major – however, after this update, I have real and severe WiFi issues. I am a Mac user since 1988 and this is completely disappointing! Apple must get their act together and stop this new habit of not caring about if it works or not. It just works was the main reason for me to stay with Mac. Is that changed forever?

  5. What I have noticed is that I am getting quirky Time Machine behavior from Yosemite. When working with dual monitors (an iMac connected to a second monitor) when entering Time Machine there’s a huge black square obstructing the view.

The workaround I found was to open a finder window on the secondary monitor, and Time Machine displays fine on my iMac.

I have no idea why my workaround works, but if anyone has issues with it and dual monitors, it’t worth a try (I already send a report about it via Feedback Assistant).

  6. My opinion
Apple makes the best hardware. Others try but fail at it. I can not find a serious alternative to the 15″ MBP. Looks, size, battery life and resolutions, no other computer has the features I need. Some try to compensate by adde 23 USB ports, but just 1 extra is more than enough.

Apple makes the mest OS. The way it works, looks and the simplicity is nowhere to be found in Windows or Linux. It is simply much much better.

Apple has the best ecosystem. Mac and iPhone, man is it great. iCloud in the mix, what a pleasure.

Having all this makes me spoiled. Bad. So I complain. How iCloud is a joke, compared to the rest of my experience with Apple. Mail is a joke, why can’t more time be put into it so it works? It is usable, but I did not sign up for usable, I signed up to have fun and work. When U get a call on the iPhone, it shows up on the Mac, how cool is that? But when I press a button to shut it up, the Mac keeps ringing…..and when I finaly “decline” it there, even when there is no real call to decline, for the caller has stopped already, I have to open FaceTime to get rid of the red dot, activating the camera etc. Why? Who on earth would want that and why can I not set preferences for it? Immature software. Yes, Windows is still in diapers, and I know software is never perfect, how hard you try, but I woudl have liked it to be better on the 3rd try…..

  7. OK, so far I’m pretty happy with this update.
I’ve noticed 3 issues right away that seem to have been fixed:

    1)
No more wifi disconnect after sleep (at least so far)

    2)
My external drive is now automatically remounting after reboot (yay!)

    3)
My Logitech MX Laser mouse is now behaving properly.
