Installing now on my 6. I’ll let you know if it starts smoking.
Done! No issues so far.
No you will try Apple Pay?
I have to find a place to use it first. I read that Walgreen’s will have it, but I don’t need a prescription.. That’s going to be in the future I guess.
how about toothpaste?
How about a black graphic T-shirt that says “Surf’s Up” on it?
Maybe I’ll hit a McDonald’s and see what happens.
That’s too much of a sacrifice. No-one should have to go in there.
The Apple Store app and website should accept this right now. And Jason Snell of Macworld just tweeted a photo of a lunch he bought with Apple Pay at his local Whole Foods.
Just be patient. This will take weeks and months to take hold. The CIO of McDonalds stated that their stores have the necessary NFC readers in place to start ASAP. It comes down to whether a merchant has the equipment in place and have set up their back end systems for Apple Pay. It will happen sooner than we might imagine. But be patient. It’s a huge change, and the rollout will take place over months, even years.
Brian
Thanks for the good advise.
However – I have to note that patience is NOT my middle name. Just ask my daughter! 😀
just got back from walgreens. paid for my rx with pay. set up was painless. ask for my PIN because i set it up without thinking as a debit card. guess to streamline further, i need to go back and set the same card up as a credit card.
another one of those “it just works” things.
3 minute download
Downloaded 8.1 with NO problems 10 minutes ago in Cuppertino time zone!
… could not be contacted!! UGH!!!
Maybe Apple should reconsider offering it’s updates at 2am again. That might soften the initial impact on the servers, as only the geeks like myself would be up that late putting the initial stress on the server.
Anyone trying it in iTunes rather than WiFi?
Downloading from Dev site. Slow.
How slow? I’m showing 1 hour on WiFi with a 16 Mbs cable download speed. Non Developer Site.
Just successfully installed on my iPad and iPhone 6. So far so good. Went quickly and smoothly. Now it’s time to play.
F I N A L L Y! Whew…..
Downloaded on my iPad 3 in minutes. I hope it solves the slow wifi problem with videos and the slow reaction time on the keyboard.
I am hoping this update doesn’t fix the date/time bug. I love GBA4ios and don’t want to loose it.
I tried setting up a CC for Apple Pay. Two credit and two debit cards, and they all said the issuer doesn’t support it. So far, this isn’t working out so well…
And for your iTunes account? (card on file) Can you use that?
I was already able to make purchases in iTunes with my card on file. When I click to add a card, I add the card number and security code, but it says it’s not supported. Amex, Visa, and MC options. None worked.
I just re-added my default card as a new one. Worked fine.
Worked great for me. Added my BofA Debit card via a picture (amazing). Given an activation number to call BofA. Ansered call in 1 minute and card is now activated.
Set up mine with Chase in about a minute.
Used camera to get card number, entered the code on back, have to verify (I used email) got code, entered. done!
FYI, when you enter the code… you can’t see it. the keyboard comes up and hides the box from view.. minor detail that Apple will fix soon I bet.
Now.. I need a Walgreen’s/McDonalds/Etc run to use it 😉
At McDonalds you’ll just meet with a long line of obese android idiots.
I just always here McDonalds as supporting it, wasn’t sure what other “fast food” will.
Just looked, Subway supposedly will. Maybe i’ll head there.
AmEx Serve and USAA Master Card (Debit), same issue: all said the issuer doesn’t support it.
These were supposed to be ready at launch.
USAA has always been “coming soon.”
Hopefully it’ll be real soon – I do all my banking with a local bank but I happen to have an account with USAA also. That’s likely the only card I have that’ll work in the near future.
Now can’t get through to server to download on other devices…..gee who knew the servers would be jammed for ApplePay and 8.1……..will try again later……
GLTA
Can’t make up its mind……..the timer keeps bouncing around from 39 seconds left to 1 minute left to 3 minutes left…….but it’s getting smaller.
iPhone 6 is currently restarting after update, iPad mini is being backed up to iCould. So far, no problems 🙂
Downloaded fairly swiftly. Total time until all was happy and phone was back up- 40 minutes.
Well, I enabled I enabled iCloud Photo Library (Beta) and all my photos are gone. I don’t see anywhere I can view them or download them.
Strange. Could not install with LTE Onto my iPhone 6 but could install using personal hotspot onto my iPad.
Update on my iPhone 6 fixed a Bluetooth problem.
Now I can cancel my 20h50 appointment at the Genius Bar 😊
Updated to ios 8.1 and used at McDonalds to pay with my iphone 6 plus. awesome
Rolling to Toys R Us in my new shirt from Macy’s.
Crap, I just got some special sauce from my Big Mac on it!
God Bless America!
updated on home wifi network in less then 18 minutes total time. No problems.
The download took about 3 minutes- I made lunch and the update was complete. Made a call, all frequently used apps function ok. More testing after work.
My download took just over 1 minute… it is preparing but the download was FAST… The rest is local processing.
It fixed my upside down MacDailyNews problem. Now can view and lock in portrait with the Lightning Speaker ports up.
Seems to be installing on one iPad here.
DLed, installed and added AMEX card.
Ran to Walgreens for a test run and worked GREAT!
Next, ran to local grocery store (Meijer in SE Michigan) – they accept NFC payments and it worked there too! AWESOME!
Seems to be working great so far. Time will tell with the Wi-Fi issue. Keeping fingers crossed.
