“Apple removed the feature from the Yosemite beta earlier this month, stating it would be available again in October, but it looks like today’s Yosemite GM has restored SMS Continuity to iMessages,” Hein reports. “iOS 8.1 beta 1 also snuck in the ability to disable Text Message Forwarding on devices, straight from the Settings app.”

During the beta, if your phone rang, all the continuity devices would continue to ring after the call was picked up, which could lead to maddening situations. I used it today and all the devices stopped ringing when the call was picked up. Much better.
This might be the biggest reason for me to upgrade to Yosemite from 10.8.
So that I can blow away my android-using friends and family members with lightning speed messages.

For those of you who have tested this with the beta Yosemite, I’m curious; I know that a FaceTime call can be picked up on any Apple device (and that continuity would presumably allow transferring the call from one to the other), but does it allow you to route voice calls over WiFi on Macs? I’m a bit foggy on the implementation of Voice-over-WiFi on the iPhone, so it isn’t clear to me if this is doable or not. I’m guessing that if the functionality exists, it would need to be supported by the carrier?
