Next Samsung phone to offer iPhone 5-like metal body with chamfered edges

“Last week we reported on Samsung preparing their next round of smartphones for September 3 and due to poor smartphone sales in the first half of 2014, Samsung announced that it would release an all-new smartphone later in the fall that would use new materials,” Jack Purcher reports for Patently Apple.

“Today we’ve learned that Samsung may have a surprise launch of another smartphone with a white metal body and chamfered edges – like the iPhone 5s,” Purcher reports. “The photos [below] came from Weibo.com in China.”

Purcher reports, “Rumors are running rampant that Samsung’s new metal bodied smartphone will come in two sizes: 4.7 and 6.7.”

MacDailyNews Take: Shocking.

Can’t sell phones with their own crappy “design,” so they go back to their only successful play: Knocking off Apple’s iPhone.

  1. Just makes me anticipate the iPhone 6 even more. I know that it will have several levels of refinement that this phone cannot match. iOS on a 4.7 inch screen with Touch ID will be such an unbeatable combination, I’m damn near salivating at the thought of holding one in my hand.

  2. Samsung didn’t copy Apple, you can clearly see in the photo that the person’s thumb is on the right. And the color, that’s not Apple white, it’s facsimile white . . . totally different. 😉

      1. Speaking of vacuum cleaners, we ended up with a high end new refrigerator from Electrolux. It’s a great refrigerator. We didn’t buy either of the two Samsung similarly priced models sitting next to it ENTIRELY because we don’t do business with thieves and liars.

        1. Exactly. As I’ve written about before, I steered my in-laws away from Samsung washer and dryer set they were prepared to buy. Sure felt good.

        2. Except that the other day I was at a Lowe’s, walking past the refrigerators. I noticed that the Samsung and Whirlpool looked exactly the same. How many brands are private labeling Samsung products? I don’t want to buy a Whirlpool if it was really built by Samsung.

        3. It works both ways. I purchased a Samsung Washer & Dryer before the war. Turns out that Samsung dryer is basically a re-packaged Whirlpool (based on parts & service issues).

        4. I am talking about 5 years ago, before the war Samsung started with Apple.

Surprisingly, the washer is way more reliable that the last Kenmore I had, and the dryer has required constant service.

Non-the-less, I will not purchase Samsung W&D next time around.

  3. This gives Samsung great pleasure.
Samsung is simply a troll and enjoys this game.
The more Apple takes them to court, the more we flame them, the more they enjoy doing this.
Sad. I cannot understand why so many americans buy things from these criminals.

  4. Samsung has their nose inside Apple’s Ass for so long, they probably don’t have time to smell their own fart. Hence What Apple Shat out a year earlier is Swallowed Whole by Samsung and shat out again. So what the fan of Samsung have in their hand is a useless pile of manure, devoid of any nutrients.
