Apple TV updated with ABC News, PBS Kids, AOL On, Willow TV and revamped Flickr app

“After adding the Watch ABC app to Apple TV late last year, today ABC News arrives as its own channel on the device offering users access to a lot of the network’s content free of charge,” Jordan Kahn reports for 9to5Mac.

“While the WatchABC app provides full TV shows from the network and requires a cable subscription, the new ABC News app offers mostly news, clips of new shows as well as the same live stream that is also accessible from ABCNews.com,” Kahn reports. “The new ABC News app comes alongside PBS Kids, Willow TV, AOL On, and a redesigned Flickr app.”

  1. I love my Apple TV, but if we’re getting more “updates”, how about a real update that will allow better home screen customization options? Could they let us decide which apps we want to display, and organize them into folders, instead of just dumping them onto what has become one really overloaded screen? Right now, the only way we have to clean up the screen is to use the parental control options, which is a clunky workaround.

    1. Milord, there is yet another way to position, hide, or display main menu icons. From the main menu, select the icon, press and hold the Select button until the position, hide, or display options appear. Alas, no directory structure while we wait for the Apple harvest this fall.

  2. I’m hoping Apple has an update right around the corner that drastically improves the way viewers interface with content on the Apple TV. Right now with each new update of content apps, the main interface is slowly turning into a mess. Without an update to the overall interface, it’s going to actually be a worse experience than cable TV.

  3. Who cares about far left ABC news, which isn’t even real news anymore. The top three stopped reporting the real news and truth years ago. Simply block that one. How about an update to put apps in folders so we can clean up the mess it has become. Love my Apple TV but it needs organization. Just a thought

      1. I haven’t depended on any of ‘the four’ for news in many years. Obviously, it’s all corporate moderated news. Meanwhile, the real world goes on despite their filtration. I’m more interested in the real world.

For future readers: Note that ‘the four’ never did question the official line about 9/11. It’s not journalism. It’s slop for the pigs. That’s us: The pigs.

  4. ABC,CBS,NBC. you know exactly who I’m talking about. Oh wait, sheeple can’t think for themselves. At least Fox gives you both sides. The other three give you one side. And that my friend is the truth.

    1. “At least Fox gives you both sides.”

I know which ‘the truth’ that is. Climb out of your box and notice there’s a hell-of-a-lot more ‘truth’ going on than you currently comprehend, enough to make you feel like a fool for not bothering to notice. So much more…

  5. The AppleTV 3 is great, but getting long in the tooth considering it is a single core A5. Hope this announcement means Apple is ready to kickoff the AppleTV 4 very soon. Especially now that I cut off the cable tv from my house.

  6. Derek. I know a lot more than you think. What I do know is that most of the news channels today are biased. But at least Fox attempts to give you the other side too. You cannot tell me the other ones do that. Also, I get my news from several sources. Just so you know.

About ABC News a.k.a Fox Newz Lite
ABC News delivers eyeballs to advertisers with TMZ celebutard content combined with villager beltway gossip masquerading as political coverage.
More people get their news from BBC than from any other source, but ABC claims that title among uninformed Americans.

June 16, 2014 Ratings for Evening News:
    NBC 7,992,000
    ABC 6,979,000

The Associated Press is the worldwide leader in print and online news coverage, yet ABC also claims leadership with cooked up bullshit numbers.

Mickey Mouse Network News. If they were only half as good as they claim to be.
