Morgan Stanley AlphaWise survey: Apple on pace to sell record 39 million iPhones this quarter

“Continued strong demand for Apple’s iPhone has the hot selling handset on pace to set yet another record in the current June quarter, the latest data from Morgan Stanley’s AlphaWise survey has found,” Neil Hughes reports for AppleInsider.

“Analyst Katy Huberty on Tuesday revealed the results of the latest AlphaWise Smartphone Tracker in a research note to investors,” Hughes reports. “The data through the end of May suggests that there is demand among consumers for 39 million iPhone units in the June quarter.”

“Apple’s previous June-quarter record came a year ago, when it shipped 31.2 million iPhones in the three-month span,” Hughes reports. “That compared to 26 million units in the June 2012 quarter… For the current June quarter, Wall Street consensus is at 35 million iPhone units.”

  1. Katy’s estimates have been greater than the consensus four out of the last five quarters. The actual number of iPhones sold has been even higher than Katy’s estimate, except for the September 2013 quarter.

Her estimate for this June quarter is four million greater than the consensus and twenty-five percent more than the June 2013 quarter. This is phenomenal news and could bode well for another blowout quarter.
