Korea Times report of Apple-Samsung settlement talks was bogus

“On Monday the Korea Times reported that Apple and Samsung were engaged in ‘working-level discussions’ to dismiss all lawsuits — much as Apple and Google had three days earlier,” Philip Elmer-DeWitt reports for Fortune.

“The piece quoted FOSS Patent‘s Florian Mueller to the effect that Apple was ‘looking for a face-saving exit strategy from Steve Jobs’ thermonuclear ambitions,'” P.E.D. reports. “On Tuesday, the Korea Times took it all back.”

P.E.D. reports, “Samsung was agreeable to settlement talks, it reported, but not Apple.”

MacDailyNews Take: How did we react to that story yesterday? Like this:

The rest of the full article is a mistake (equating one Samsung SEP for which Apple’s owes $158,000 with all of Apple’s design patents for which Samsung currently owes Apple over $1 billion in damages) followed by what basically amounts to a press release from Florian Müller pushing his throughly transparent anti-Apple/pro-Samsung campaign.

Until we get corroboration from independent sources from outside of Samsungorea, take this report with a grain of salt.MacDailyNews Take, May 19, 2014

      1. Who cares if he backtracks, or about anything he says now – his corruption is so plain to see, it’s pitiful. What a monster ego he must have , to believe that he still has any credibility left at all. I hope the payoff was worth it. He will never be trusted again.

        1. His “Android app” is total BS much like what he writes. Just his way to get sympathy from dumb Android fans who may not remember his previous antics when he was working for Oracle.

  1. Told you so!

This is EXACTLY the copy and steal mind set that pervades all of Korea. In this case the Korean Times copied from the “Google and Apple Dismiss all Law Suites” (even though they did NOT) and applied this mistaken idea to create an Apple/Samsung story along the same lines. The saddest part in all of this is how Florian Muller seems to have influenced this. He is a low life “mullah driven” asshole lower than even the Gassies of this world.

      1. You can’t handle the truth!

Samsung, Kia, the guy who faked genetic engineering results,…..need I go on?

Meanwhile, at the Apple WWDC preperations, Korea, start your photocopiers……..

    1. There are so many deliberately corrupt biznizziz these days, I no longer see any point in rating who’s the worst. It’s a massive culture of bad biznizz across the world these days. This mass of bad players created the 2007 global economic depression and continue to hold back the world from full recovery out of their desperate requirement for profit at any cost to the future. Short term thinking, long term disaster. IOW: These are some of the most stupid and self-destructive people on the planet. I’m sure the TowerTone contingent things there’s anything good about that.

  2. It is difficult to go thermonuclear with our US Federal Justice System and, in particular, with Judge Judy Koh. Yet fission may well be possible at the Appeals Court level, as these judges seem to know what they are doing. In the meantime, Apple is bleeding Samsung to death. It may be a slower process, but in the end, it is the same result.
