Apple iPhone 5s, iPad Air, iMovie used to film and produce Bentley promotional film (with video)

“Luxury automotive company Bentley is the latest to take advantage of the filming capabilities of the iPhone 5s and iPad Air with a new short film entitled ‘Intelligent Details,'” Zac Hall reports for 9to5Mac.

“The four-minute film largely aligns with Apple’s values of design, performance, and technology coming together as it profiles the Bentley Mulsanne (MSRP from $298,000),” Hall reports.

“As the film concludes,” Hall reports, “it is revealed that it was captured by the camera on Apple’s iPhone 5s and arranged in iMovie on an iPad Air.”

  1. I sure do hanker to get me one of them there Bentley cars. Oh and I will add a Pioneer stereo with CarPlay. Yeah, that is what I am going to do as soon as AAPL hits $700 again.
    Cool video BTW.

  2. iPhone 5S, iPad Air used in filming Bentley , meanwhile, in Mountain View, googleglass is used in filming and producing Hyundai with Samsung tab for editing.

  3. It’s not just that the film was edited on an iPad.. It was edited on THE iPad that comes with the Bentley. Even so, the very same car that was in the film.. This follows a theme here, what you see is what you get. Nothing is hidden, your imagination fulfilled.

They are showing how they used the iPhone for the source material. What strikes me, what you see on the screen – the framing -, is exactly what the cameraman/director wants. How simple is that? You get better shots the first time.

When a manufacture like Bentley wants to put a computer into their car, what should they choose? Windows OS? Custom OS? It goes to show you just how impressive iOS is, it’s top shelf world class, and exactly what you want to associated with the likes of Bentley, Maybach, Roles Royce, etc…

There’s no “the” before iPhone 5S or iPad Air. It’s an Apple thing.

      Hopefully not Maybach!

        1. Mercedes bought the Maybach company in 1960, but didn’t release any cars under the brand until 2002. After only 3,000 sales Mercedes tanked it in 2013. The brand itself doesn’t exist anymore. Diamler pretty much raped the brand by confusing it with their Mercedes brand at a time when Chrysler was dragging it down.

        2. Yes, they let the brand be dormant for decades and then felt like they had to copy BMW and Volkswagon with ultra-luxury cars of Rolls and Bentley. Unfortunately they did pretty much everything wrong.

There was no Maybach anymore other than a trademark at this time. So to build the car, they simply took an aged Mercedes S platform to base it on. They couldn’t decide whether this car would be a chauffeur vehicle or not so there were compromises in both regards, made more confusing by only allowing reviewers to ride in the back seat. It was then sold through Mercedes dealerships so Maybach no longer had distinct brand recognition, made worse with dilution from the Chrysler brand and the fact that the Chrysler 300 also shared the Mercedes S platform and had a somewhat similar look (there were modification kits to make it look even more so).

In the end the Maybach was seen by many as ghetto-aspirational, and less in brand and quality than the competition in its class, thus only 3,000 (total models) were ever sold by Mercedes before they shut down the brand.

  4. Beautiful video, that; I particularly like the fact it was shot in mono.
I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Jonny Ive drives Bentleys, although he owns Continental GT’s* which are basically a two-tonne sports car.
I’d be interested to see how they integrate Apple products into the car’s entertainment system, which I think is supplied by Naim, a very high-end audio manufacturer usually associated with Linn turntables and amps, the prices of which are in the ‘if you have to ask, you can’t afford it’ region.
*Two, I think, but I could be wrong, there.
    I

  5. But, but, but the Apple iPad & iPhone are just for “playtime” & “consumption” & NOT a serious “production” or “work” like the Surface or SamiTablets…NOT!
