Want a hooker in Germany? There’s an app for that

“German prostitutes may soon be saying ‘auf wiedersehen’ to walking the streets,” Danika Fears reports for The NY Post.

“A new app is connecting ladies – and gentlemen – of the night with prospective clients in the same area – similar to how Uber and Tinder connect users to cars and dates,” Fears reports. “Billing itself as the ‘first mobile Web app for booking erotic entertainment,’ the Berlin-based service Peppr was launched at the beginning of April and will be available in other German cities soon, according to a company press release. Prostitution is legal in Germany.”

“Users can browse photos and profiles of nearby male and female prostitutes, narrowing their options down by filtering for price, age, physical attributes and ‘extras’ like ‘leather fetish’ or ‘dinner date,'” Fears reports. “Setting up a profile is free for sex workers, but clients have to pony up a booking fee equal to about $7 and $14. ‘Our intention is to provide a neutral platform on which men and women can arrange meetings relaxed and safe,’ CEO Pia Poppenreiter said in the release. She dreamed up the idea after observing prostitutes standing around outside on a cold winter day trying to lure in clients.”

    1. There is no class in the prostitution trade an it is demeaning to women

Every classy prostitute would disagree with you. YOU’RE demeaning to women! Everywhere around the world, outside of your mind, these women work their asses off to earn a living.

I don’t condone this lifestyle, but if not for customer demand this trade wouldn’t exist.

      Stop judging!

        1. Wow. You’ve agreed with just about everything I’ve said.

But, you’re getting all the credit and I’m being taken from pillar to post.

I’m getting my ass kicked and I like it. At least I’m thinking differently and not playing the role of lemming.

      1. I judge it as a complete denigration to the humanity in us all. It is not even befitting of animals. The family unit is the basis of our civilization and these acts detract from us achieving that noble goal: to raise better children.

        1. Your wife doesn’t charge you for the privilege, so you think no one should have to pay for it, is that it? Give it away for free. Hey, the Sixties are calling and they want their mindset back.

It’s the financial aspect of this issue, isn’t it? Animals don’t use currency but I know for a fact they’re involved because men will pay to watch it.

Prostitution, or some form of it, has existed for millions of years and nothing can stop it, so we may as well live with it. Clean it up and take the risk out of it, which is what they prefer in the Netherlands and Germany and Japan.

And, I gotta say, it would seem children in those countries make our children look dumb by any standard.

        2. Nothing can stop it? Was your mother a prostitute? was she forced into it? How about your sister or your daughter, do they have any choice in whether they become prostitutes? We all have a choice and many of us have chosen to not have sex outside of marriage and to remain faithful to our wives and not hire women to ‘service our desires’.

        3. See? You are disgusting and there is no limit to how far you will stoop to peddle your religious values.

Next you’ll say you don’t participate in oral copulation.

Everyman is the cause of prostitution.

        4. “Nothing can stop it?”

That’s right. It’s illegal in all US states, but Nevada, and yet it still goes on and on, doesn’t it? Because of men, it exists.

I can say without equivocation my mother, ex-wife, and daughters aren’t prostitutes and I should know. But it didn’t stop you from asking did it?

I raised my children better. They aren’t judgmental and they certainly wouldn’t have the nerve ask such a question.

        5. I gave them college educations, obviating the need for them to consider that line of work.

They’re independent thinkers, it was their choice. not mine.

Did you actually have tell your children not to be prostitutes?

        6. Nice try.

But you’re conflating your logic with my morality.

As I said, my children can think for themselves. I didn’t have to tell them to be, or not to be, prostitutes. They can figure life out on their own.

          I wasn’t a helicopter parent.

        7. I’ve gotta give you a single star for that comment. This was between you and me and you dragged my daughter into this.

You are a man with a need and you’re looking to a woman to satisfy your lust for fifty-bucks? You’re part of the problem.

          Buttvinnik, you’re dead to me.

        8. Was your mother a prostitute? was she forced into it?

Slave traders would disappear if Prostitution were legal. Imagine the money saved if prostitution weren’t a crime?

The same could be said for pot dealers if marijuana were legal.

I’m all for taxing Sin and pot. In fact, if pot were legal in Arizona I wouldn’t be forced into a criminal lifestyle, or risk being branded a criminal because I like to use it.

All of you stating that the decriminalization of prostitution would wreck America are high. If that were the case, Nevada would be the go to fun place in the United States.

Everything stays in Las Vegas! We all know what that means don’t we?

        9. Reading for clarity and comprehension is such a lost art. I said nothing about criminalization and nothing about ‘America’ because this is a world problem based on a lack of understanding of sociological principles and not religious dogma. Your pot smoking is evident in your fuzzy responses but is not relevant to this discussion. Try again please.

        10. Again, it’s not a problem in Germany. Stop using your filters to process everything you read about that country.

Actually, I credit my pot smoking for tempering my comments. Otherwise I would be making silly value judgements over something for which I have zero understanding.

You’ve probably never been to Germany or outside of North America for that matter and yet it doesn’t stop you from speaking about their sociological principles. As though North America were the model society.

Everywhere I turn I see corruption! Corruption in government at the state and federal levels, and I believe the root cause is sex.

You’re a prude. I’m progressive about sex and know that stigmatizing it only drives it underground, far from the light.

        11. It really sounds like you are passing judgements on me about my values. I have been to Germany 4 times and many other places in the world. As a Canadian, I have been given the advantage of being part of the world rather than just an ‘American’ like you. Sociology is just starting to measure the effects on humanity caused by our choices. There is a lot of work to be done and this issue of prostitution is one of them.

As intelligent people, we have the choice of looking at the forest floor as we walk through the woods and seeing all the decay and slime and dirt or we can choose to look up to the magnificent trees above and revel in the majesty of their beauty. The same is true of our setting goals for humanity. We can look at all the corruption and degradation and maladaptive behaviour or we can set our sights on greater values and qualities that we want in our lives. The choice is ours.

        12. Obviously, you aren’t aware of myriad dating apps available from Apple’s iTunes store. You being a faithful married man and all, but there are apps available for all Apple consumers who just want to “hook up” without any strings attached.

I understand they’re extremely popular too. Once iBeacon becomes common technology, we’ll be alerted to those who are in close proximity and who want to have sex with us.

That ought to make your head explode. Free sex and not strings!

        13. I agree with Electro. (Holy Cow! the End is near.) Prostitution causes way more harm than any possible good. Prostitution has been proven to be rife with human trafficking and slavery. Very, very, bad. Not to mention the degradation of the prostitute and the John. Neither is raised to a higher plane, both are dragged into the gutter. There is also the disease cost to humanity. The bads far out weigh any goods, no matter how you slice it.

        14. “Prostitution causes way more harm than any possible good.”

Men are the root cause. They’re either collecting the money, or they’re paying for the services.

Men have always had a hand in this, because it was a man’s idea.

Change men and change the deed. God-fearing men who preach each Sunday about the evils of sex and sin are diddling little boys and girls on the side.

Scandals rise each day about the hypocrites who say one thing and do another.

In the interest of full disclosure, I’ve never paid for sex and never will, but I’m not going to judge the women who sell it. Unlike electro, I’m not about to condemn those who are dragged into this or those who go willingly.

Men should stop judging women, period, especially those pay women and animals for their sex.

        15. (Holy Cow! the End is near.)

So said Noah. But we’re still here, aren’t we?

I not surprised there are so many prudes in this forum. Those of you fighting me on this topic all been brainwashed by Christian ethics.

I’ve lived! I’ve been around the world 19-times and lived in as many countries and nowhere is the topic of “sin” more prevalent that it is here in these United States.

Europe has a very different notion of what sex means. In fact, it’s more akin to the mindset of today’s American youth, who don’t use sex as some kind of reward and punishment system.

Men use sex as a crutch! You don’t please your lovers, you’re accustomed to getting yours and to hell with her.

Men believe they’re doing her a favor and faithfulness is a bullshit crutch as well.

Marriage in America is in trouble, not because of prostitution but because of a breakdown in bullshit family values predicated on your marriage vows.

If men really understood their wedding vows, they’d have changed the wording a thousand-years ago.

        16. Please, allow me to kick you off your soap box for a moment.

First of all this is the kind of arrogant misinformed moronic statement that one expects of you: “I judge it [prostitution] as a complete denigration to the humanity in us all. It [prostitution] is not even befitting of animals.

Now here at the news flashes, by all scan search the net, your local library or a book to confirm the facts that I am going to present to you.

          1. Prostitution is befitting to animals. Case in point, human beings are animals. It’s very very very very well documented;
          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homo_sapiens

          2. Prostitution is befitting to animals: Now you may have heard that prostitution is one of the oldest professions. It’s got endurance, and of course being the oldest profession it was developed long before Homo sapiens roamed the earth (if you are an evolutionist) or a day before Homo sapiens roamed the earth (if you are a creationist).

          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prostitution_among_animals

And yes there is currency involved or at least a barter system, a trade of goods for services rendered. Again there is a lot of materials about it on the net.

I won’t touch your lofty comment regarding the goal of better children because it is so nebulous and no doubt your version of “better” more than likely diverges from mine. Diversity is best in my view point and there is some validation to that approach that I will not expand on at this point.

Prostitution can be demeaning to women. I have seen interesting cases where it is not. In Germany it is legal, the law of the land. It’s their choice, you may not agree on it, but it’s the law in Germany.

It’s also the law in Canada in a very confusing sort of way.

          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prostitution_in_Canada

Certainly you have an opinion on that, I respect that you don’t appreciate it. I’m not a supporter of prostitution myself but if a government deems it legal and people wish to engage in it legally, heck that’s free will. By all means express your opinions but please, try to remember the facts on this issue:
          1. Humans are animals.
          2. Prostitution is befitting on humans and other animals.
          3. Prostitution was around before humans walked the earth.

        17. Wow! Did you ever get me good. If it is on the internet, it must be true. As long as you don’t respond to my premiss, you can make any argument stick. Did I say a single thing about the legal status of prostitution anywhere?

Although humans do have an animal nature, it is our goals and aspirations that differentiates us from animals. We are not slaves to our animal nature but can and do rise above the to do great things. Apple is just one of those great things.

        18. premiss, as in you knew you were off-target before you pulled the trigger.

Apple is just one of those great things.

And no one at Apple has ever been to a prostitute, right?

Did I say a single thing about the legal status of prostitution anywhere?

That’s the point. It is legal in several countries, sanctioned by governments. It’s even sanctioned here in the States.

You conveniently keep overlooking that point. Just because it’s legal doesn’t make it corrosive to society.

What is corrosive is the stigmatism placed on those involved by puritans like you.

        19. Yup, but not good enough obviously.

“If it is on the internet, it must be true.” I never said that, I specifically pointed out other resources (books, library) that you could avail yourself to to confirm the facts. Did you or is the “if it is on the internet, it must be true.” just a knee jerk reaction to distract from the facts?

I did respond to your premise of “It [prostitution] is not even befitting of animals.” by pointing out that humans are animals and that other animals do engage in prostitution. I also presented references to support those facts. As long as you repeat yourself this way no argument is going to stick to you, regardless of the facts.

You did not say a single thing about the legal status of prostitution, I did, just in context of the overall topic (i.e. Prostitution is legal in Germany as stated in the original article) Gosh, don’t you remember what you even say? You need serious help then.

Now finally something of value, be it of very little indeed “Although humans do have an animal nature, it is our goals and aspirations that differentiates us from animals.”

I have news for you, every animal has unique attributes. Your statement would be correct if it read “our goals and aspirations differentiate us from OTHER animals.” Having the attributes of goals and aspirations is not a distinguishing feature of animals, in fact some might argue that some animals have those features as well. It’s tough to show. Humans also have the unique attribute of being able to produce materials that are toxic to all other forms of life. No other living creature has that capacity. So your argument, believe me would not sway any taxonomist and they aren’t going to rewrite all the medical and biological books based on your incredibly weak argument. You want believe what you wrote, fine. I already know you are delusional.

You say you are not a slave to your animal nature? When was the last time you ate? Been to the bathroom lately? Circulating blood? Heart beat going? How long have you been holding your breath? Hey do your pupils contract in bright light, check it out. Not slaves to our animal nature, what a bunch of manure you are pouring out.

I tell you something nature does some pretty good stuff. Heck let’s get away from animals for a moment and look at one a serious pollutant in the atmosphere called Oxygen. Put there by plants, 20% of the atmosphere give or take. Pretty darn impressive. Stop breathing for a few days and maybe I’ll be semi impressed by your statement. I’ll know by the lack of posts you make here. Keep on breathing and I’ll be impressed by your ability to succumb to your so called animal nature. I’ll know by the next moronic posts you make and no doubt you will continue to make them.

One thing we can agree on though, Apple is indeed one of those great things.

Now if you excuse me I’m going to embrace my animal nature and have a piss.

        20. Nicely done. Truly, you are an Honoré de Balzac for our times. I think Electro is Plato, and I’m still working on a gloss for G4Dualie. botvinnik plays himself. 😉

        21. I am honoréd by your comment my dear hannahjs, not only for the great comment directed my way but for the insight into showing me the playdough, which is fun of course to play with.

The others mentioned here certainly add a lot of character to the overall realm of this forum over time. It is always a joy and a pleasure to read them all.

I shall endeavor to contribute in my small way from time to time.

Needless to say there would be many names to could be put forth to compare you with say Cleopatra, Joan of Arc, Lucy Maud Montgomery and others but they would pale beside the forumesque ability of you, hannahjs.

          Enjoy your day.

        22. Yes you do get it:

First you get the words you attempt to put into my mouth shoved back right at you.

“You want prostitution in our world and it has no downside.”

You aren’t paying attention I clearly stated “Prostitution can be demeaning to women. I have seen interesting cases where it is not.”

This statement is in agreement with your original statement and simply adds that prostitution is not only demeaning to women. Your comment about me saying or believing that prostitution has no downside is false. I have no idea why you would make up such a blatant lie about me, perhaps an attempt to discredit what I have said or it stems from your inattention, or your incredible lack of morals. Could be something else, but certainly that’s how I see it, and I don’t think it escapes others who are reading this thread.

That is therefore, the second thing you get, your exposure of lying to me to my face about what you said. Someone with a reasonable attention span would never have made that comment after reading what I’ve said. Someone with a shred of decency and ethics would apologize for saying what you have said after realizing this. I highly doubt you get that so I won’t hold my breath for it.

You also get to agree to disagree, and while you agree that humans do have an animal nature, you just can’t get yourself to come out and say or agree outright that humans are animals. It is your choice to fail to see this in spite of the massive of volumes of high quality material available. That’s what free will is about, it allows diversity, and certainly self righteous arrogant maroons (in my opinion) like you have their place on this wondrous planet we live on. Yes, it’s all good as they say, you are well indoctrinated in those cute quips that flow into your post time and time again.

        23. We can rise above our animal nature. We can strive to end prostitution if we want to. Are you against it or for it? Do you want your relative to be free of the temptation of becoming or using the ‘services’ of a prostitute? Giving up and not even speaking against it is not an option. The world can live without that ‘profession’. Apple does not have to support it either.

        24. No one is arguing there is no downside. It is what it is and as long as it runs from the Light, it festers and eats away at those involved.

The psychological impact of leaving the Light for the Dark can metastasize itself to your mind and affects one’s behavior. The illegality of it makes all players deviant, evasive, and untrustworthy.

That alone keeps most people away.

I’ve been giving this matter a lot of thought and realize a distinction was made earlier by Agent Provocateur between the common street walker and those who work inside a brothel.

Brothels have standards. Big difference. Street walkers have pimps and they have no standards.

I wouldn’t dream of approaching a street walker. But a brothel would be another matter altogether.

I could easily imagine myself paying to be pampered at a well-established brothel. To be entertained, without the pressure of having to perform, to drink and be merry all night long.

I experienced this in Asia. Most bars have hostesses who are paid to drink with you. Geisha’s if you will, who will feed you, fetch drinks, sing and dance and provide stimulating conversation. It’s great!

There is no sex, it’s pure entertainment. I miss it, dearly.

        25. Very interesting points you bring up. I can see that men would like that sort of thing in a woman companion. What would your wife say if she knew that you were going to a place like that? How about if you were married to a woman who did that for others while you were at work? Does that life style lend itself to creating a functional family? Would it be even better if you and a woman were able to do that for each other and enjoy it for a lifetime?

        26. You don’t deserve an answer to those questions. You already crossed a line by asking for too much personal information.

What would you do with that kind of information, if not use it against me?

I no longer trust you and won’t be answering anymore of your personal questions.

          See you around campus, chump.

        27. Note: This is in reply to 3l3c7ro’s post of Friday, May 2, 2014 – 1:40 pm·

Am I against ending prostitution? No, it’s a behavior well established in many animals and I know about the inherent wisdom of nature. For humans I see a certain futility of trying to eliminate it. Therefore, what I would like to see change is the attitude. The attitude that you propagate: “a complete denigration to the humanity in us all.” and “it is demeaning to women.”

I have replied “Prostitution can be demeaning to women. I have seen interesting cases where it is not.” Let me share you a case, about a prostitute called Rachel Wotton, who was involved for a documentary called Scarlet Road. This is her web site:

          http://www.rachelwotton.com/

I’d highly encourage you to see or read up on the documentary, and even email her, share your views and get the facts. Then we’ll see who is demeaning and denigrating humanity. Her experience puts your comments to shame. Her parents are proud of her, her partner, her clients, her client’s parents, her university. Oh, she’s a rare one, but she’s a beacon of light is that sordid shadow you and a portion of society cast about.

With space limitations I an not going to follow up on another point as much as I’d like but your comment: “We can rise above our animal nature”
          – To what?
          – Where is your proof? References please.

No more space so I’ll let it slide.

        28. studies show female primates act like prostitutes when they use food as currency. so yes animals do it. look it up on wildsex channel on youtube.

  1. expected!

After all, Germany is usually at the forefront of everything
    incl. anti-prudishness

    Germany legalizes prostitution

    Germany invented/launched the Porn industry, through Beate Uhse 1947! (b. 1919 Oct25, d. 2001 Jul16 @81 of pneumonia)

Then again, MacDonald’s etc in EU sell beer/wine unlike prudish USA,
so don’t expect them not to serve up Whoring apps, right?! ; )

This means Apple should allow such app in the EU/DE AppStore!
Prudish/shocked USA should not interfere & has nothing ado with it!

Let’s not the the unprofessional silly US gov/Hollywood/Tom Cruise move on forbidding/suing Germany to fire 2 scientology bureaucrats in 1990s!

    Prudish silliness:
In open/mature cultures there’s less sex crime from less perverse curiosity

  2. I will point out that these days there’s no such thing as honoring the right to privacy on the Internet. (See how I carefully worded that, NSA? Feeling guilty yet? Got a conscience?)

Therefore, I suspect more anonymous ways of prostitution will continue as usual.

(Just to attract flames: I personally have no comprehension of why anyone would get involved with prostitution, on one side or the other. I’d rather starve and die. But that’s just me.)

  3. Back in the day when I lived in Germany many cities and towns banned streetwalking and only allowed brothels or something similar. The House of 3 Colors (Drei-Farben-Haus) is in downtown Stuttgart- a metro of almost 3 million people- within spitting distance of the City Hall and Police Station. No signage, no promotion, just a building with a steady stream of men coming and going.

Here is a link to the German Wikipedia page for those who can read German or have a translator plugin.

    http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drei-Farben-Haus

There are strip club/houses and whorehouses, but no legal street walkers.

Yes, I know it is different in Frankfurt and Hamburg and probably Berlin, but in much of Germany you will never see it unless you are looking for it.

As for me, the Red Light District concept should return and let the police concentrate on human trafficking instead of hassling practitioners and customers of the oldest profession. The streets of Germany are quite safe and part of that is that the Police are not worried about such things- unlike America.
