“In the second Apple vs Samsung U.S. patent case that’s set to start on Monday, Apple has already scored a minor victory against Samsung over an instructional video for jurors, which explains patents and patent law,” Chris Smith reports for BGR.
“In the video that describes how patents work to protect inventors, several Apple products are depicted including the iPhone and iPad, both part of the current trial,” Smith reports. “That’s why Samsung wanted the video thrown out, and replaced with an older one that doesn’t feature Apple’s products, and which was shown in the 2012 lawsuit between the two.”
Smith reports, “The new instructional video (uploaded on YouTube on November 22, 2013,) as well as the old one (dates December 12, 2008), which was already shown in the 2012 Apple vs Samsung trial, follow bellow.”

It’s being handled by Judge Lucy Koh, who also oversaw the first Apple-Samsung trial.
Koh is nearly as bad, but at least she presents an illusion of impartiality.
How can Samsung tell they’re iPhones and not Galaxy SIIs and that the iPads aren’t Galaxy Tabs?
It takes 3 years to get a patent. What’s that say about the bureaucracy of the US patent system? I love the video of the people with knowledge of the area of “Art” covered by the patent. Priceless. Reminds me of the generic brand video. I can’t believe how messed up this whole thing is (for Apple). Apple Insider had a couple of nice articles cutting through the BS. An exposé of Wikipedia’s biased coverage of the topic.

Though Apple rightfully & emphatically deserves to win this suit, I agree with F Mueller in that using this vid, with the Apple logo in clear sight, challenges true impartiality. (Fyi, my opinion may not be impartial b/c download speeds & available time, allowed only partial vid-viewing.)
Oh well, Apple deserves to get at least one concession from Judge Lucy.
