“A notable personnel departure is coming up in Cupertino: Cathy Edwards, the co-founder and CTO of app search and discovery platform Chomp, is leaving Apple on April 11, TechCrunch has learned,” Ingrid Lunden reports for TechCrunch. “”
“Apple, if you recall, acquired Chomp in February 2012 for $50 million, kickstarting a long-term revamp of how users search for and discover apps in the iOS App Store and elsewhere in the Apple ecosystem (which is ever in progress),” Lunden reports. “After joining Apple, Edwards has been part of some of the projects most central to Apple’s mobile effort on the software front.”
“Just before Apple discontinued Chomp altogether, she became the Director, Evaluation and Quality, Apple Maps,” Lunden reports. “She joined that role at a pretty thankless time, if you recall the chaos of Apple Maps-gate. ”

her resignation letter ended with “bite me.”
Why would she hate you?
a joke, co-founder of Chomp,. work with me.
People forever talking past one another, missing the joke we call life
So she bit off more of the Apple than she could chew?
There are many here among us who feel that life is but a joke. But you and I, we’ve been through that and this is not our fate. So, let us not talk falsely now, the hour is getting late.
Art doesn’t imitate life, it is life.
Thanks for keeping us on the watchtower, this is the only post i have ever responded to of yours, maybe the last, but….
What I say to you, I say to everyone: watch.
at least troll accurately. Maps was Forstall/iOS 6. Ive was iOS 7.
Let’s not admit that iOS 7 is butt ugly. It is different but ugly is subjective.
I have read several rumor postings on other tech websites that Forstall was actually working on Skeuomorphism Lite. The reason for his departure was Ive would have none of it.
After several departures it is looking more like the “think different” crowd is morphing into my way or the highway. As evidenced by shortened computer support timeframe for OSX yearly releases and one size fits all iOS7 design that has been panned by Apple loyalists too much for comfort.
The concern as always with dominant companies like Apple is avoiding consolidation of top-down power and not to appear tone-deaf to the creative class and users of every stripe.
While I don’t care for Android in many ways something to be said for the look and OS options. Hard to believe Apple cannot beat them at their own game given all the resources and idle earnings at their command.
Butt ugly is TOO kind.
That’s it: “Butt ugly”. Okay, so let’s hear about your design aesthetic.
Now I hope that we see improvements in the App store. It is the worst way to search for anything. Especially when looking for an App for Macs. Try searching for time management and you get 100 games mixed in with a few actual time management apps. THis is not good for the user or for the developer of the program. The search in the App Store does not allow you to drill down by Category. Apple should be ashamed to not be able to provide the makers of these applications a chance for the users to discover their work. Search by categories is so basic. This is a no brainer. If they need help look at the millions of web sites that already have this functionality.
Just enclose your search term in quotes and you’ll get a much shorter list….
Oh the ignorance of trolls, this one probably thinks Luxembourg is in East Asia.
