“Top executives from Facebook, Google and other tech giants will huddle Friday with President Barack Obama — a meeting, according to one White House official, that will focus on the ‘issues of privacy, technology, and intelligence,'” Tony Romm reports for Politico.
“The Obama administration declined to provide a list of those attending the session, which the White House first revealed on the president’s schedule Thursday night,” Romm reports. “But Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is slated to join the sit-down, according to one industry source, and Google Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt also plans to attend, according to another source.”
MacDailyNews Take: Schmidt has to attend as his lips are permanently affixed to Obama’s ass.
“The meeting comes days after Zuckerberg called Obama personally to voice his displeasure with the latest round of NSA revelations. ‘Unfortunately, it seems like it will take a very long time for true full reform,’ Zuckerberg wrote in a Facebook post on March 13. He stressed the U.S. government needed to be ‘much more transparent about what they’re doing,'” Romm reports. “Google, Facebook and Yahoo — and many other tech giants involved in the surveillance battle in Washington — declined to comment. The meeting comes at a critical juncture in the NSA reform debate. The president soon will announce the future of the phone metadata program, as he promised in a January speech, while the Hill is racing toward a series of new bills that could refine existing surveillance programs before some of those authorities expire.”

What is the point of that meeting? To bribe them or blackmailing them so the NSA keeps on doing the dirty job?
Obama is “reaching out.” duh.
I want to agree with MDN’s take from Ben Franklin, but I think Muslim Extremists are a serious threat. Though maybe somewhat minor today I think it will increase in decades to come. They aren’t like a normal foe of the past. They don’t wear uniforms they hide among citizens and blend in. Spying is going to be one of our primary forms of finding out who is planning some major harm. It’s a tough situation, we are used to fighting governments not a branch of a religion that’s taken a turn for the worst. Will be interesting to see where the lines are drawn in the future.
Obama should meet with Lawyers who have actually bothered to read the Constitution and not accepted the highly illegal secret law legislated from the bench by various designees to the FISA court by our Republican Chief Justice of the SCOTUS.
That is a very thought provoking video. I hope some candidates arise from either party who will take a forceful stand to change this shameful situation. Who has the courage to stand up for what is right? Does anyone know if any of the active candidates have vowed to curb these programs?
BTW to any detractors of Mr Stone:
He is a Bronze Star with V Device (for Valor in Combat) awarded 2x Purple Heart Veteran. He dropped out of Yale and enlisted in the US Army when people like Rush Limbaugh were dodging the draft. He did 15 months combat duty in Vietnam.
The only problem I have with the works and words of Mr. Stone is the same problem I have with Rush’s faltering efforts. They have the subtlety of a jackhammer when they communicate their narratives.
In their old age they have both become caricatures of themselves. They are both a bit delusional with a side order of naive.
On the plus side they can both be very charming when they make the effort.
I guess that’s why obama’s guys are looking at Samdung, et. al. You know, they want a phone that’s “open.”
The bitchs started it and now Obama has to suffer. That is ok as He is not THE WORLD? You have no idea how people in the world thiks about it.

Oliver Stone is the last man I’d trust on anything about politics or the NSA. He said Edward Snowden was a hero for what he did to the NSA in exposing them for what they were doing and I agree with him 100% on that subject, but he’s an Ultra Liberal Hollywood Producer who probably voted for Obama both times and give him lots and lots of money. But, I for one don’t trust the NSA or Obama or Oliver Stone for that matter. Just my opinion!
CONCEPT:
How about the Supreme Court has a meeting with Obama, the so-called ‘Constitutional Scholar’, where they sit him down and READ HIM the Fourth Amendment to the US Constitution over and over and over until he GETS THE MEANING.
